Me and my boyfriend wanted to go out after work with drinks wings on our mind. My boyfriend works in waste management, in Essex County, NJ and I am a social service employer servicing Bergen County. Getting out is not on an everyday thing for us due to crazy work shift hours and days.
I initially suggested Millers Ale House. I remembered, Dallas BBQ is now open in NJ. I am an New Jersey girl ALWAYS. But I would much rather go to Washington Heights or Downtown Manhattan NYC. Let me begin, my boyfriend and I were greeted at the door and sat immediately PERFECT! My boyfriend and I were sat at a very small table. My boyfriend and I are a very tall couple. I am a female about 5'9 and my boyfriend is about 6"3. We both asked to be moved to a booth seat with more space. Our server reported to us "Wellll, there ain't no booth seats available right now" which there clearly were. Our waiter proceeded to grab our utensils she had at our table and threw it on another small table she sat us at and walked away. RUDE!
I continued giving it the benefit of the doubt. I ordered our food which were 10 wings for my boyfriend and I to share and a macaroni bowl and Texas Moscato mama for me. My boyfriend was indecisive about getting macaroni and asked the waiter the other side options. The waiter walked away from the table and told my boyfriend "I will return when you decide your side" without helping him find side options. I ended up showing my boyfriend the sides and helped him decide. My boyfriend decided on the macaroni and cheese bowl and a ginger ale drink. Again, trying to give the waiter benefit of the doubt. Our food came out quickly.
The wings, macaroni and cheese bowl, and drinks were good. Our bill came out to $88.92 gratuity included was $10.22. My boyfriend paid the waiter $100.00 bill and gave her an extra $6.00 tip. The waiter awaited and stared at my boyfriend then proceeded to ask my boyfriend, "Am I keeping the change to the $100.00?". My boyfriend told her he gave her $6.00 bills on top of gratuity and the $100.00 is for our food and I want my change from my $100.00. The waiter proceeded to say "OH" and walked away. Again, we were giving her the benefit of the doubt. Clearly, she was still not in understanding the little $15.00 from the $100.00 wasn't a problem but her service didn't deserve $10.00 gratuity or the $6.00 singles my boyfriend gave her because she was extremely rude from the entrance to the ending of our time at Dallas BBQ's in Secaucus NJ. My boyfriend and I waited about 5 mins so I can finish my Texas Moscato mama. The waiter gave us two cute cake pops and our paid receipt with a sticker on it. My boyfriend left the receipt on the table because typically unless we pay with card, we never take the receipt paid in cash. While walking to the exit, the waiter stopped my boyfriend screaming extremely loud in the restaurant accusing us of not paying. My boyfriend told the waiter we did pay, and the paid receipt is on the table. My boyfriend also mentioned we gave her a $100 bill with a $6.00 tip on top of gratuity, and she still asked for another tip. The waiter pardoned my boyfriend. However, we were unpleased. IF the time wasn't 10 something PM and it wasn't week/workday I would've asked for the manager. I am extremely unpleased with the service we received and the humiliation. I won't be back and if I shall. I will be likely going to 1265 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10021-4301 for a meeting with the flagship administrators on this matter. Certainty UNPLEASED.
0 stars from me.

Read moreMy family and I got to Dallas BBQ at 11:01am on June 25th. My son graduated from 8th grade and we thought that we should try some place different to celebrate. My wife suggested Dallas BBQ. When we arrived, we were seated immediately being we were literally the first and only family in the restaurant. Right off the bat things seemed normal, but something just wasn’t right. After we were seated, the waitress arrived shortly after. I asked for the drink menu and she directed us to the QR code on the paper menu. We ordered our drinks for our party of six and again they were returned promptly. Great, but here’s where thing began to take a full turn left. After we got our drinks, I expressed to the waitress that we’re ready to order appetizers. She took the orders and asked it that was it. I said yes. She said, “You should order your meal too all at once being that you are the only people in here.” I was confused and felt rushed. I said, “ We have not even considered what we would like.” She looked, hesitated to speak, then smirked. I said give us a couple minutes. Then she left. About 5 minutes later a gentleman came out with the appetizers. By that time we were ready to order our entrees. While we were eating, the waitress never left. She circle our table and fidgeted back and forth.I felt like we were being monitored. Then the entrees arrived. Once we began to eat, the waitress went to stand about 6 feet away and commenced to star at us. It was weird. My daughter and wife, who was facing her direction noticed it. I looked at her and she turned her head. She began to stare again. Remember, Shes only about 6 feet away. I looked at her again and then I just dropped my food and stopped eating. I said to my wife, what the fuck is going on. Why is she staring? My wife shook her head in bewilderment and just kept eating. I just sat there. I looked up at her and she walked off only to returned shortly after to do the same staring. The moment I was done eating - the instant, she took my plate. We were not there long at all and now, not only was she hovering, a gentleman server began to hover and circulated around our table. Remember, we are still the only people in this huge restaurant. She then took my wife a plate and offered to bring take plates for my children’s food who was literally in the middle of eating. My said, but their not done. The waitress went to to get the containers and bags anyway. U finally asked why are we being rushed out? What’s going on? She replied huh this is my area and said something I couldn’t make out. I asked the gentleman server what going on, why are you acting like this and he made a strange face and ignored me. I looked around and asked again what’s going on here? My wife packed the food, we asked for the check and left. By this time another family or two had arrived. The experience was horrible. It felt creepy and discriminatory. We were stared at, ignored and rushed out of an empty restaurant! We will never ever return to Dallas BBQ. Finally, the food was mid. The fries were unseasoned, and seemed to have absorbed all the grease it was cooked in. My said the chicken wings were completely bland and tasted like nothing. My other daughter did like her salad and the fried shrimps were ok. Again, I will...
Read more** Update 5/9/2025 Grand Opening May 10, 2025!! THANK YOU Crystal Chavez!! 😃
** Update 5/8/2025 Still not open. All tables are now completely set with salt, pepper, ketchup, D BBQ sauce, silverware, napkins.. and a paper tablemat menu! I am uploading new pictures which include the new menu so you can at least see what they will have and the prices. Looks like the burger is super expensive at $18. But they have much better value in the various chicken meals they offer. Hopefully they will open very soon. Seriously this is the longest I have ever seen a new restaurant take to open! Sign on the front door still has not changed as mentioned below too.
** Update 4/24/2025 Still not open. New TV on side entrance showing a cool D BBQ promo video ad (I uploaded a video of it here so u can watch it). But same note on main entrance about "2 weeks for final inspection", even though I saw it over a month ago initially.
** Update... I checked today 4/9/2025 and still not open. The doors are unlocked and I saw employees go inside. The lights are turned on. 2 TVs at the bar are on now. New wall decorations are up. The POS system is hooked up now on the wall. Note on the door is unchanged with the same 2 week notice about waiting for final inspections. I will check back next week if they still don't open by then. Hopefully soon. I am including my latest pictures from today so you can see.
**UPDATE!! Opening in 2 weeks! Roughly around April 9, 2025. Note on the door from the owner states they are just waiting for final inspections and then they will finally be open! I am including a photo of the note.
This Dallas BBQ will be opening soon! I will update my review to reflect actual food quality and service as soon as they open and I visit.
Side note: I tried posting this a month ago but some dim reported this location as "permanently closed", yet my previous photos and my photos now show that this place is indeed under construction and almost ready to open. All of the signage, windows, floors, electricity, plumbing, gas, stoves, decorations, chairs and tables are all complete. I am now guessing it will open in mid April 2025 or sooner based on how far along the construction is at this point.
