Plank Road Inn — Restaurant in Secaucus

I recently visited Plank Road Inn in Secaucus, NJ, and had a great experience. The place has a homely feel with a unique railroad car layout that adds a special charm. The catered food was good, and there was plenty of beer to enjoy. The outdoor areas were delightful and free of insects, which made the experience even better.

However, the service from the waitress and bartenders was just average. Despite that, the clean bathrooms and well-kept trash areas were a plus. Parking was convenient with ample space available across the street in an outdoor lot. The prices were reasonable, and the crowd was friendly and local. I even noticed a little league baseball celebration taking place, making it a child-friendly spot. Overall, Plank Road Inn is a solid choice for a casual and enjoyable dive bar...

Plank Road Inn is a very special sports bar to me, as I have been going there for over 20 years. Bruce and Brian run a good business that offers pretty decent food selections combined with so many accessible TVs. People come here as a dive bar, but often times can be a family restaurant in the early evening,

The regulars here are often nice and their bar food (Frankenstein wings, burgers, fries) are always good. They have daily specials which are often times unique depending on who is the chef at the time.

It can have its problems if it is overpacked and there is often people who are uninviting that come here at later points in the night, but they should not be considered the standard crowd.

Great dive. We were looking for a place to eat close to the dream mall because all of the restaurants were like a 30 minute to 1 hour wait. We looked up local restaurants and found this one. We parked in a municipal parking lot directly across the street. When we approached the restaurant and came to the door, it looked extremely shady. We entered the restaurant and saw a bunch of people at the bar having a good time. We sat at the bar and ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with waffle fries and it was awesome.
