We went to the Seekonk, MA Outback on the way home from the airport the other night after having a disappointing meal at the Seekonk Lonestar Steakhouse last time we went there. We have a long history with Outback in Poway, CA, who consistently had great food and service. We had less experience with Lonestar, but generally had good food and service until our last experience, which was post COVID. I recognize COVID and recent inflation has unfavorably impacted food prices, quality, portion sizes as well as restaurant staffing, but nothing about the Lonestar meal was positive. Our Outback experience was the complete opposite. It started with our server Kaytlin R., who not only has an incredible personality and who seemed to truly enjoy her work, but is also one of the most attentive and thoughtful food server we have seen in quite a while. We ordered drinks, Nate F. was the bartender that night and we know that fact because we were so impressed with the quality of his products we had to ask and compliment him personally. Everything Kaytlin brought us that night was fantastic and as good as we have ever experienced (pre or post COVID), be it the Shrimp on the Barbie, my Caesar Salad (or my wife’s garden salad) or the incredible large and perfectly delicious Ribeye Steak, the finest I have tasted in a decade. What essentially was intended to be good meal on the way home from the airport ended up being one of the best meals (and drinks) we have had in several years and eclipsed in quality, taste and portion any steak we have had in southern New England. While COVID has diminished the quality, size and taste of almost every meal we have had since it struck and at every price point of restaurant we have visited, that was not the case with our Seekonk Outback experience, as that Outback actually exceeded our expectations in every regard. Although there are many fine and pricey restaurants closer to us, their meals and or service seem to have suffered notably since COVID. The Seekonk Outback that night convinced us it will be worth it to drive further than we normally do to eat (and drink), as the local offerings in comparison seem to be over-rated ever since our Seekonk Outback experience… We may even call ahead to ensure Kaytlin R. and Nate F. are working when we go next because I don’t think any restaurant around could serve better food and drink...
Read moreSadly, they were having a really off night. I say that because Outback has long been a favorite of my friend and myself. He did eat all of his meal...commented that the lobster mac and cheese was good but his steak? Very gray in color. No juice at all...inside or out...not even on the plate. It looked a little petrified. My meal was not edible. Broccoli and cheese had been microwaved by the look and the cheese had rubberized. The broccoli had rubberized into it. It lifted out of the dish in one piece...the broccoli was ice cold. My sirloin had "juice" only because I selected the burbon sauce. It had a strange texture, was not at all Outback signature tender, and had absolutely no flavor. The baked potato was edible but nothing special. The good of our dinner was our server, Leslie (a/k/a "Cookie") was top notch...honestly, a cut above. When at the end of our meal, she was made aware of my displeasure, she would have turned the planet on its axis to make it right. She was just super sweet. Also a positive was the manager who made a personal stop to our table to offer her apologies and offer anything of our request to make things right. Although I declined to accept any efforts of replacement, she did remove the cost of my meal from the bill. In fairness to Outback, it is a Friday night...it was slammed busy. The wait for our food was honestly remarkable. So clearly, there was something happening behind the scenes. It's life. Things happen. Will I (we) go back? Most certainly. I love the place. I have to afford them one...
Read moreI am feeling so disappointed to Outback, which was ever one of my favorite restaurants. I ordered the steak from outback,in Seekonk, MA. What supposed to make me happy because on trip in MA, I still can have my dinner from my favorite restaurant . Buttt after I got my food to hotel, I found the steak and salad has gone bad and smelled spoiled. I was really hungry. I was sad to crying and rushed to restaurant. The store was just close and I waited outside to see if I can talk to manager. I finally found the manager and told him what happened. He seemed nice to explain that the store was close and no way to make new one and promised to refunded $30 to me. I totally understood. On the next day, I came to restaurant to confirm if manager Mike have successfully refunded to me before I left MA . He explained that he has done that and it may delay due to Juneteenth holiday. He also promised he would do that again later and will call me. At that moment, I was still satisfied with the service even though I did not receive any call. After 3 days, I was refunded only $10.3. I called to restaurant to and the manager promised to call me back in 30 minutes. I have not ever received any response. I felt tired of following up to get the money back. I gave up finally. I learned from this lesson. NEVER ORDER FOOD in 30 mins before they close!!!or you risk getting spoiled food and can not get refund especially on trip. It really broke my trip and ruined my impression...
