You can’t tell a book by its cover! When I want some good Chinese food, don’t want to wait a long time and want to pay a reasonable price…this is the place. Great selection on the menu. Good soups, egg rolls and entrees. My wife was skeptical because we like Asian food out at nice restaurants, and this is not that place. But, since I am picking up, it’s tasty and it comes home hot, she likes it. Generally don’t wait more than 10 min. On the street parking and a large parking lot is just across the street. Easy to find next to the Fire Dept and across from Ace Hardware on Chagrin, just east of Lee Rd in Shaker Hts

The Wonton soup was tasty, but the sweet and sour chicken was average. The chicken was nice, but the frying-mixture was dense and tasted a bit like what you put around a corn-dog. The chicken with almonds was tasty, but it seemed a little weird that there were almonds on top of the dish and not incorporated more through-out it. Although I’m not totally sure if that’s normal or not. All in all, the food was enjoyable, although it’s definitely not the worst or the best.

I got the shrimp fried rice lunch special I'm giving 5 stars just for the egg roll, but I don't have a picture cause I ate it so fast. It was delicious and i dont even like egg rolls. The rice was good. Nothing about it stood out to me. I also got crab Rangoon but they weren't anything special. I am not sure there was any crab in there. Just cream cheese.

East China isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an assault on the senses in the best possible way.

The Hot and Sour Soup hit like a warm punch to the face. Sharp vinegar, bold pepper, rich mushrooms, and tofu that melted like silk. It didn’t whisper flavor—it shouted.

General Tso’s Chicken was perfection. Crispy like it was forged in a volcano, glazed in a sweet-hot sauce that clung to every bite like it meant it. This wasn’t your average sticky chicken—it was a main character.

Egg Fried Rice was buttery, smoky, and layered with flavor. Every grain was intentional. Nothing mushy, nothing forgotten.

Then there was Isaac. A young man who introduced himself to my kids and spoke in a strange, floating accent. At times I genuinely wondered if he was casting a spell. He said things like “The dumplings know when they are loved”, and somehow—I believed him.

The dumplings were incredible. Juicy, fragrant, and sealed with care. Maybe Isaac knows something we don’t.

Bottom line: The food is unforgettable. The vibe is strange in the best way. And Isaac? I hope he never stops...

My first time visiting this place the 4 stars is kinda being generous. The parking is not great but not a make or break. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken and a small ham fried rice. The orange chicken was for my son. I must say it didn't look tasty but he said it was ALRIGHT. My sweet and sour chicken was ok but they put onions in all my food and I asked for no onions in everything. It was so many onions by the time I picked them out my food was cold but it was enough for my boyfriend and I to split and it wasn't bad. They accidentally gave me a crab ragon sauce it was so good with my egg roll. This is the first place I've seen with the crackers in a long time so that was a plus. Would I eat here again I would say yes. I would just emphasize no onions and order my food there so it's hot. Lastly, the price of the food was good for the...
