This is the worst bob evans i have ever been to. I worked as a server at bob evans when i was 16 so i know how a restaurant runs. First we check in and are placed on a waiting list. The host never said how long and there where only 2 parties of 2 in front of us. We where also a 2 top. So we waited a good 20 to 30 mins and during that time not a single name was called. They where not seating anyone. I saw several carry out orders go out. One where a guest ordered at the counter for carry out and got it all while we where waiting to be seated. Several guests where also checking out and there where several open tables. I figured they just didnt have a server for those sections at first (which should never happen on sunday at 11:30 am bc thats their busiest day) but it became apparent that they where just flat out not seating anyone. Finally one of the parties that was ahead of us on the list asked what was going on and the server rudely answered the kitchen was behind and they cant seat anyone. Then the manager came out and said the same exact thing but even meaner. He did not apologize or anything. He said it will be another 30 mins which would mean we would have been waiting for an hour and basically yelled this at the guest for asking. They immediately left and so did we. But here is the thing. The kitchen wasnt that backed up bc i watched a women order carryout and get it in less than 30 mins. I have worked as a server and a host for 12 years and i have never had a restaurant even at bob evens not seat anyone for an hour so the kitchen can get caught up. This is something they do but usually its only for a short time and the guests wont even notice its happening. And if they do notice they will get an apology and most places will go above and beyond and give you a free app or dessert or something for waiting for longer than what is expected. It is one thing to be told its an hour wait because you shouldnt be upset of you choose to stay but its another to only have 2 tables in front of you maybe 6 to 8 tabkes in the whole building and never being told its going to be a long wait and since it was a ghost town in there we assumed we would be seated fairly quick. That manager and server both need more training in customer service and conflict resolution. Or at least inform the customer about what is going on so they can decide if its worth the...
Read more1st time visitor - I'm in town for business and this Bob Evans is located near my hotel. I've never been to a BE but I was drawn to the restaurant by the signs outside advertising hot soup (it's cold and drizzly today) but once inside I decided to order the prime rib meal. It comes with a baked potato, broccoli and rolls. The picture in the menu looked awesome. Too awesome. My server was excellent - attentive, cordial, very quick to take my drink order - her name was "Mellie" and she was very good. My meal however wasn't awesome. It was OK. The prime rib looked nothing like the photo - it was thinly cut and heavily laden with fat. The broccoli was fine but not hot enough to melt the butter and the potato came late - I was about half-way through my meal when Mellie brought it out. Honestly by that time it actually tasted better than the prime rib because it was piping hot. As I neared the end of my meal I let Mellie know I'd like the apple pie/ice cream combo. When she brought it out she apologized because the kitchen had drizzled caramel sauce over it (not listed as how it comes.) I accepted it anyway and it was OK. The double crusted pie didn't taste homemade - it tasted like it had just come from a mass-produced industrial kitchen. Kinda disappointing. I travel a lot and see Bob Evans restaurants where I go. I can't say I'd be quick to seek one out but i will give it another try - I think that's fair. maybe their breakfasts are good - the menu looked good. Service - 5 stars;...
Read moreI mean it's a pretty standard Bob Evans. But sadly the last 2 times we've been have been beyond subpar. The service has been slower (and some of that is in the kitchen not the waitress). But the last time we went in and both myself and my husband ordered a type of steak. Mine was supposed to be medium and it was definitely well done. My husband's came out with what looked like the side of gristle they cut off the actual steak.
His was the actual steak dinner (and I know I shouldn't really expect steak from a place like this), so should have been bigger than my breakfast one. It was pure fat and smaller than mine. She took the whole plate back, so he couldn't even eat his side dishes. He just sat while me and our son ate. She came back and it was still a tiny well done price of steak. It was absolutely ridiculous. The manager did take it off but by that time, even the slow toddler was done eating. And even the kid didn't get what he asked for! He wanted the piggy pancakes and his meal came out with 3 giant pancakes that he wasn't going to be able to finish and he was sad it didn't look like the picture.
We used to come here monthly or more as the little one loves it, but the kitchen has a lot...
