The pool was a decent size, but pretty cold for an indoor pool. The pool stairs are a bit narrow and there are ladders on other pool walls to get out, but there was someone sitting on the stairs the entire time we were in the pool, so I had to ask them to scoot over when we were getting out, (recently had knee surgery, didn't feel comfortable using ladders). There were also hair beads all over the pool floor. We kept finding them when walking around.
The breakfast was okay, but didn't seem like anything to write home about. Bagels, oatmeal, a pancake maker, and yogurt. The standard hotel breakfast, but it was a bit cramped around where the food was.
The staff seemed kind of like they'd rather not be somewhere else else. The TV remote wasn't working even after changing batteries, so my boyfriend brought it down and I they said they'd bring another right up, but then 30/40 minutes later he ended called down to see if they wanted him to come down and pick it up, because no one had to ever come. And every interaction we had with staff felt like we were bothering them or interrupting. Like check-in, purchasing from the convenience items, asking if there was a microwave we could use somewhere (none in the room), and check-out, etc. Just felt like we were inconveniencing them.
Location was decent. Right off the highway, but didn't seem like a whole lot of options close by. The convenience items at the hotel had some nice options. There were microwaveable items, candies, snacks, and even ice cream. Lots of drink options, too, and it seemed like they had free coffee and tea out 24/7. I got some at one point and my water was hot, but I did hear a other guest complain at one point that the water wasn't very warm. But having the tea was a nice option as I got a cold on my last night there. I would suggest adding some cold medicine to the convenience area (not sure about over-the-counter liabilities, but just thought I'd mention if they see this). They had ibuprofen and aspirin, but I could have used some cold medicine when I couldn't sleep.
There are ice makers in the hallway, but never any ice buckets, which we were told were next to the ice machines.
There is a pool table in the lobby and lots of seating and places to do work if needed or just chill.
Parking was free and close to the building.
Rooms were clean! Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, lotion and handwash dispensers are installed in bathrooms and there's a hairdryer. Seemed like there was an extra set of towels in the bathroom as well. The bed was comfortable, but it always seems like, regardless of where you go, the pillows are just so flat and they end up getting sucked into the space between the bed and the headboard. The windows in the room were double-shaded and the room could be pitch-black if needed. The secondary shade was convenient because you couldn't see through it from the outside, but you could see out and it let some light in without having to open the shades completely exposing the room. There's a small fridge in the room, but no coffee maker, glasses, or microwave.
The vibe of this place felt more like it was meant for adults only. Like there's multiple signs around the elevator saying "no jumping or you'll be charged for the repairs for the elevator" (I'm paraphrasing) and a $150 incidentals deposit that'll you get back afternoon your stay. We only saw three families with kids the four days we were there and there was only one family at the pool and we never saw anyone coming or going to the pool during our stay. I don't know something about it just felt more posh-hipster hangout than family friendly. I don't have kids, so this doesn't particularly matter to me, but it was giving that impression, so I figured I'd mention it . Maybe that's a plus to some or a negative.
Would I stay here again? Wouldn't be my first choice, but in a pinch, probably. Reality is perception, so do with tjis review as you please. There were a lot of great reviews, so maybe my expectations were higher than what I...
Read moreThe hotel itself was decent.. clean, but front desk was rude, argumentative, confrontational, and had a hard time communicating. The evening before my check out I spoke w staff…extended my stay and was told that they would authorize my card on file. I decided to stay another night after that and was told I had to come down to pay. I was charged $106/I selected tap to pay and the charged showed as pending on my end. The am front desk clerk told me the charge did not show on their end, but I showed her my phone and she said ok. I went out and returned and the same clerk was on my floor near my room and told me that they took the fee out of my $150 incidental fee. I asked her why bc the charge was pending..she began arguing and I walked to my room. The next morning I went to get breakfast before it closed and the clerk asked to speak w me. I said yes, but I wanted to get my food and would speak w her after I ate. As I walked to grab a seat she called me to the desk and stated that my card declined and that I needed to pay my bill. She said that if I did not pay then the $ would be deducted from her paycheck and she could not pay my stay…she kept accusing me of taking money from her paycheck..it was strange. I explained to her that the old card was removed from my profile on my end and i did that during booking…the new card was added and that I did not understand my charges bc all charges were showing as pending and she said they took my incidentals. She began raising her voice and repeatedly saying “just pay your bill” and causing a scene in front of a lobby full of people (25) eating breakfast. I was so embarrassed and frustrated bc she was not allowing me to talk and show her my phone and it was obvious she was enjoying what was going on. I walked off..went to my room and didn’t eat my breakfast bc it was cold. When I went back down she was calmer and explained to me that the evening clerk did not follow the correct procedure and I was not charged for the 1st extension and the other clerk was new and made a mistake which resulted in my owing $64. I paid the $64 owed, but the damage was already done. I will never stay at this location again bc of how I was treated, plus it’s noisy bc of the highway. They charge a $150 flat rate for incidentals rather you stay 1 night or more. They do not release your incidental fee until they radio house keeping (in real time) to ensure that your room is not damaged. The icing on the cake was when I found out I only earned 3500 points for a 7 night stay..just cheap. I also noticed how this particular clerk was nicer to some people than others. (Her hair is shaved...
Read moreI’ll probably get a snarky or rude comment in response, but this has to be the most ridiculous attempt to book a room at a hotel I’ve ever experienced.
We came in around 4:30am, just needing a basic room for a few hours of sleep. Asked for an accessible, pet friendly room.
Was given the rates, told about the security deposit, etc; No issue whatsoever there
I asked a pretty simple question of “would that apply to a service dog in training?”
And immediately things got super weird and uncomfortable. The lady immediately looked panicked? Frantic? Something. and said she was placing the reservation on hold until morning so (I assume) a supervisor could address it. She made the rude remark of “well, anyone with a service dog would obviously know what to do” and continued frantically explaining that I needed paperwork on him, I needed to file forms and whatever else. She finally asked what he did, to which I stated “he’s for my husbands autism” to which she again started fretting over this supervisor needing to approve his paper work
and due to it being 4:30am, I just dismissed it and said “no, I’m not messing with all of that. I was just curious.”
She asked for my id, and at this point I was just very confused by her entire response and behavior. I said that was fine, and added “also. I do know what to do; i asked about in training. But for the record, a service dog doesn’t need paperwork to prove it is a working service dog.” Before I could continue explaining the legal rights ; she cut me off and said “I’m just going to put the charge through and you can bring that up with Christi in the morning”
Again; super put off I just said never mind, that I’d rather go stay elsewhere.
I wasn’t rude or insulting, and I didn’t make any commentary or anything. Just put my id back in my wallet, and turned to leave.
As I left, she was shouting after me about things being recorded, and other things of that nature
I don’t know what her issue was tonight, but I hope she’s more polite about other disabled folks in the future, and I hope they don’t run into legal issues with the wrong person for their...
