They were very busy and very understaffed. I understand this is the norm so I always pack my patience when dining out however this was a particularly bad experience. As soon as we were seated we informed the waiter that on top of the dine in meal we were going to order we also had to place a carry out order and he acknowledged that he understood that. He took our orders for food and drinks and it took forever to get the drinks. Meanwhile, people who came in after us at the table next to us were waited on and given their drinks long before us. He finally brought our food out and they forgot one dinner and it took 10 minutes for the last person to get their meal. He finally came back about 15 minutes after that and asked us how things were going and we explained that we needed to still place our carry out order. He said he would be right back. He never came back. I finally decided to place an order online while we were sitting there because we couldn’t even find anybody to come over to our table. When he came back approximately 10 minutes later, he asked us what we wanted to order for takeout and I explained to him that I placed the order online because we could not wait any longer and I asked him if he could expedite the order because the website said it was going to be a 45 minute wait. He said he would see what he could do. He came back and said he could not expedite the order so we had to sit there for another 45 minutes for a take-out order. I believe the manager was watching this from afar and never offered any assistance. It was very disappointing. This was my first experience at this location and sadly will be my last. An apology at any point during the fiasco would’ve been incredibly helpful but we weren’t even given that. Covid is no excuse for such a...
Read moreAs a visitor from Chicago, I was excited to try some Detroit style pizza. As our party of 5 arrived at 12:30 PM , Morgan, the hostess stated, "I need you out by 2 due to a party coming in." When asked for a different table she clearly looked annoyed and showed us to a table while mumbling something under her breath. Approximately 20 minutes go by and we finally have someone (not our server) take our drink order. After speaking with the manager Kevin, he assured us that he will take care of it. 10 minutes later we finally get our drinks and still after 30 minutes of waiting and speaking with the "manager" our order was not taken nor did we ever get greeted by a server supposedly named Alexis. However, the party of 6 at the table next to us had their drinks and food at the table already. We decided to leave since it was obviously clear we were not important enough to even be greeted let alone have our order taken. As we were leaving I approached the manager and told him "thanks but no thanks", he clearly and obviously did not care that we were leaving and said "sorry about that" as he was turning away from me! Unbelievable service if that's what you would call it. Kevin definitely needs training for the role he is in and Morgan most definitely needs an attitude adjustment and placed in the back away from people until she learns what customer service is and how to provide it. First impression of Buddy's definitely sealed the deal to never go again as I did find out while looking the store up on Google to write this review that there are a couple locations in the Chicagoland area. But seeing Chicago has the best pizza anyway, why...
Read moreI visited the Buddy’s Pizza in Shelby Township last night (Check#319). The food was fantastic (as always), and the waitress and her trainee were on the spot and provided fantastic service.
My complaint, and subsequently the one star review, is related to the interaction with the hostess staff when we arrived. I recently underwent ankle reconstruction surgery and I currently use both a tall boot and a knee scooter to get around. In other words, I can’t walk on my right foot right now and the knee scooter makes that obvious. When we, a party of 3 arrived, there was no wait and multiple visually open tables and booths available for both my party and the party arriving right behind us.
The hostess team advised they wanted to put us in a booth and keep my knee scooter at the front with two hostesses. I was dumbfounded that anyone could request to take my only mode of mobility away from me. What if I need to get up and use the restroom? What if my scooter is stolen? How would I get to my car or into my house until I could get another? The request was appalling and never should have been given to me as a customer. Does Buddy’s request anyone with a disability (no matter how short term nor permanent) to give up their assistive devices out of convenience of the restaurant and it’s employees? Additionally, the hostess got visibly agitated when I said no and declined the request.
Buddy’s Pizza needs to provide better training to its employees on issues such as these so future patrons aren’t provided this...
