UGH. I have been holding out on changing my review for some time now. I donât know what is happening but the icing on the cakes are not the same. Itâs lighter in consistency and has less flavor. The yellow icing on the lemon cupcakes were wet to the point it slid off of the cup cake as I put it to my mouth, then did a very impressive splat when it hit the floor. It was cold not room temp. Typically their icing gets firm in the fridge. The cherry and nuts in the cherry nut cupcakes were way over pulverized leaving the cake pink without cherry and nut pieces. The lemon and cherry nut cake was dry. WHAT IS GOING ON. THIS HAS BEEN MY FAV FOR YEARS BUT EVEN PRE COVID THINGS KEPT CHANGING :,(
What can I say⌠if you want a cake that is not only beautiful but tastes even better, come to Christineâs. I have lost a very large amount of weight and this is my cheat place. LOL WORTH EVERY CALORIE! The Chocolate Poured cake/cupcakes surpass Saunders Bumpy Cake. If you want a vintage oldie but goodie you have to try the Cherry Nut Cake. The only person I know in my 60+ years to make this was my Mom who is 94 now. Christineâs makes it just like her. This is not a Cherry Chip Cake yâall. This is chopped maraschino cherries with a hint of chopped walnuts. A beautiful pink cake with the most amazing flavor. Donât like or canât consume nuts, order it without. Cupcakes are typically always available in this flavor, special order for a cake. Limoncello Torte, drop the mike! Enough said. Then there is the Raspberry AlmondâŚwell just a plain old chocolate, yellow or white cake will do it too! I love love love the icing! The best I have had from a bakery. I have introduced everyone I know to this bakery. Folks from the west side drive over an hour to purchase cakes. When making a choice wedding cakes are ordered from Christineâs. I obtain their little cake box with multiple sample pieces and surprise the bride-to-be with the sample box. Christineâs wins every time. The cake here is not a sponge cake. It is an old school moist cake. I could eat it naked and still be happy it is just that yummy! Cookies and brownies are amazing as well. Sometimes you can buy different flavor cakes by the piece allowing you a smorgasbord of...
Read moreWalked into this place for the first time today to pick up a pre-ordered cake. I had called several days ago and ordered a simple poured chocolate cake for my sister in laws birthday with simple happy birthday message. This was not an online order. I called and spoke with someone and paid with credit card over the phone.
The guy at the counter asked how can I help you. I clearly stated I'm here to pick up a cake. I called and ordered it on the phone it's already paid for. It's a chocolate poured cake and says happy birthday Heidi.
He proceeds to point to the case and asks which cake I want. I said no I don't want a cake from the case. I ordered it a few days ago and it has a birthday message for Heidi. He looked confused about life and just stood there and I repeated that its not in the case and it had customized writing.
He said okay I'll go check and comes back out with my cake holding it in his hands without a box. He shows it to me and says that looks good? I looked at the writing and it looked like a child decorated it. What's more they spelled Heidi H E D I.
I said that's not how you spell Heidi. He looked at it and said okay. I gave him the correct spelling and he took it to the back.
He comes back out several minutes later and says how does it look? Looked like someone just smeared and wiped off the middle and then squeezed in the other letter. It looked messy and smeared.
At that point I wasn't going to ask them to do it again. I said fine he put it in the box and then asked it was already paid for. I had mentioned at the beginning several times that i had already paid for it. I said yes its paid for. He said oh okay it doesn't show it here. I said yes we already paid.
He handed to me and I walked out.
I've had Christine's cakes before and some of their other pastries cupcakes and such. There is nothing impressive about any of it. The frosting tastes like lard, the cakes are dry and the flavors are mediocre at best.
I have no idea why some people make a big deal about this place. I'll just go get a sheet cake from Kroger or Sam's and be much happier and I know they will spell...
Read moreI always buy cakes and cookies on the holidays this year was very disappointed when you pay 70.00 for one cake you would like what you have always gotten consistently this year was a big disappointment. I spent over 200.00 for Easter I have a big family and I do this all the time. I bought a basket weave cake its usually beautiful not this year this cake had less flowers on top the weave basket was white what happened to the quality???? I have pictures of past cakes even the egg cake they cut corners on not at all what it wanted I have a big family and we have gone to Christine's way before they moved there and they were always good. My family comments were not good as well the egg cake was not in pastels just like the basket weave it was bold colors not pretty at all. The easter lily was gone replaced with a bright hot pink rose tacky. And no sparkles on top cutting corners does not make people want to go back and want to spend that kind of money the basket is usually light yellow with a light pink trim on the bottom was all white and the flowers were a light pastel this is not what I wanted to pay for. I was totally disappointed and so was my sisters who bought cakes and cookies for there families you lost a customer for sure I will go to 8 mile and little Mac to purchase my cakes. Joseph's French pastries. They are always consistent with their cakes. And they always present a beautiful cake. I'm very upset with how you have let your products slip this is a bust time I know but that's when you want to shine thats when people get together who have never had your cakes and ask where you got them I would not recommend you guys now and it's sad. I never write reviews but this upset me and money I spent was alot for two cakes ,cookies , scones, eclairs, gluten free cookies, and some other pastries. I hope this changes I really do because it's not good for your business at all and I consider myself a loyal customer that...
