First, I would like to start by saying that MP has been one of our favorite restaurants to eat at the past two years. Tonight we saw the worst experience when it came to hospitality. When we arrived at our reserved time, we were seated outside and noticed on our table that there were only two plates, no napkins and no silverware. Our waitress came to ask if we would like something to drink. We ordered our starters and drinks. When our starters came, we still had not received our silverware. Our waitress mentioned that she was working on it and apologized because it was busy in the kitchen. Twenty minutes later with no silverware, I went to speak to a manager. The manager mentioned that the head chef had called out and the kitchen was behind. In addition, she said that they had ordered silverware, but it had not come in yet and she apologized for the delay. At that point I returned to the table to find 3 forks and no napkins. The calamari dish was not cooked well and it was soggy and cold. The Brussels sprouts were also cold having waited so long to wait for silverware. Even though our waitress did her best to rectify the situation the managerial hospitality was nonexistent. At no point did the manager come by a table to see if the situation had been fixed. It is a shame because this restaurant was known for his wonderful hospitality and service and today showed a really bad job in providing a beautiful food experience. Nothing on the table seemed farm fresh with the exception of the brussels sprouts. The quality of food also changed as we noticed that at the other table their scallop dish was served on a chipped dish. In the food business, hospitality is what makes you or breaks you. Our poor waitress tried to make the experience better. We were asked if we wanted dessert and coffee. My husband ordered an american coffee and daughter ordered a nutella dessert. In another unexpected event she told us that there was only decaf. As a courtesy for all the mediocre service, the least that could have been done was not charge for the cup of coffee. Needless to say, it was disappointing to see the lack of hospitality that MP offered this evening. I hope they can fix all the issues. It would be ashamed to see this...
Read moreRecently went here on a Saturday night for the first time, not sure why it took so long, probably because an acquaintance said she didn't like it. Anyway, this is extremely popular so be safe and always make a reservation. We watched many people arrive without reservations and wait 30-45 before being seated. The food overall was delicious, skillfully composed and executed. The bread is to die for, you could make it your sole purpose for going but then you'd miss out on the food! The menu is an interesting mix of comfort classics, to meat and potatoes, to vegetarian options but all dishes are inspired creations with a farm-to-table focus. The New England clam chowder was spot on, perfect consistency, some of the best we've ever had. The crab cakes were good, a nice thick cake, no breading except for a crunchy panko crust. Our only disappointment was that it was served slightly above room temperature. Perhaps that's intentional, not sure, but I cleaned the plate. The Tempura Shrimp bowl did not disappoint, so deliciously composed, seasoned and dressed with a deft hand. The Short Rib Bourguignon was stellar, savored every bite of this velvety tender delight. Enjoyed the mashed potatoes with caramelized roasted sweet potato or butternut squash, the dish was sublime. The Maple Tres Leches dessert was very good as a final note. The service was excellent, our waiter was very entertaining with his sense of humor, and juggled 5-6 tables like a pro and had everyone laughing. Yes, the vibe was loud and very busy, but that's to be expected on the weekend. Go here if you haven't been, you will not be...
Read moreWent for my first visit on Saturday. Aesthetically, the place is gorgeous. Nice, open lay out, the fire place in the center is a nice touch, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The beer selection was good. They were sadly out of blue moon and bud light, but had plenty of local beers available. Service was quick, and the waitress was always checking on us.
The food tasted good, and the complementary bread was a nice touch.
Now, here's why I unfortunately had to give it a 3/5: the prices are killer. I was in a party of two: both of us had the market place burger (the most basic thing on the menu), I subbed out the fries for a salad ($2 more, which is fine). We had 3 beers between us, and we ordered a nacho plate. I will say the nachos was impressive what they gave as toppings, but I almost mocked the lack of chips to topping ratio. Had to eat most of the plate with a fork. Anyway, so for the above, with tax and a standard 20% tip the table bill was over $90. Sadly, for that much I could go to most restaurants on the same road and keep $40-55 dollars. Sure, I'll give them that the food we did get was certainly good, but not at the prices. I feel this place will see business slump unfortunately, as you can't...
