One of my to-do' lists since moving into the area was to find a go-to sit-down Mexican Restaurant and I believe my search is over. Mazatlan was within my target area and me and the kids decided to check it out. The reviews that patrons have left seemed promising so we wanted to experience the restaurant for ourselves. We were greeted by a nice, spanish-speaking lady and she brought us to a nice table towards the back corner of the restaurant. The area wasn't as busy and we had our nice little cozy private spot, The decor was really nice, colorful, lots of colorful tiles and colors adorned the walls with this fun-looking decor. We were given some nice, freshly made tortilla chips along with refried bean dip and a salsa on the side. It was a delight to have 2 different things to dip our chips into. The chips were an instant hit- it didn't last long until we finished the bowl when the lady came back and asked us if we wanted more and we said yes. She knew we were enjoying the chips and it was a nice-to-have before our entrees came out. For our drinks, we went with Horchatas all-around and I tell you, the Horchatas came in large, plastic coke-labeled glasses. Large Horchatas.- Wow!! When the lady came back with our menus, the kids were overwhelmed and excited to see many choices from the menu. What really impressed my son a lot was that he never saw steak + shrimp offered on the same plate (kind of like a surf and turf) which was a delight to see. It was a hard decision to make but he opted for the Carnitas plate when he saw the photo on the bottom corner of the menu. This also caught my eye as well and we both ordered the same. My daughters went for Chile Verde and Enchilladas respectively. Our eyes even lit-up wider when our plates came out- LOTS of food, I mean LOTS!! They were prepared in round, ceramic bowl/dishes and hot out of the oven. My son enjoyed how creamy the refried beans were and I enjoyed the carnitas meat- nice, tender but the bomb was the sauce that came with the meat- it was a lemon-salsa type of sauce that woke-up the carnitas. You have to absolutely dip the meat into this!! My daughters enjoyed both their enchiladas and Chile Verde- all tasty. We were served so much food that we didn't have any space for our appetizers. Obviously the highlight of the dinner has to be the left-overs that we get to bring home and continue to enjoy again for tomorrow's lunch. Friendly waitresses, very attentive and always asking if you need more water and checking in on you. Great customer service and they made us feel at home- we really enjoyed our dinner tonight and what a great first-time impression!!

We just moved to the area and decided to try the food here. Everything was well until the end where i found a piece of RAW carne asada on my plate. I was letting the waitress know and she reacted like i wanted free food or something. I wasnt even done talking to her about the issue and WALKED AWAY leaving me there talking to my self. Completly Rude. She also only checked on our table once. When I asked to speak to management all the employees said there was no one in charge. I honestly was more mad and upset at how rude all the employees where with the situation. It wasnt that hard to own up to their mistake. To say less dont go here because I wont be returning. According to another waitee the ladya name is ANGELINA.

My first time in a Mexican restaurant and it's safe to say it didn't disappoint. Great sized portions at great affordable prices. Highly recommended.

So today Sunday 7/3 I decided to visit Mazatlan Restaurant in Sherwood. I was there around 100 pm. Got seated, had the usual condiments brought to the table(chips, salsa, and bean dip) water. I looked through the Menu, and decided on my favorite dish, which is Chicken Mole. The food got delivered and here was my plate with one of the "WORST" Chicken Mole I have ever ever had. If you want and like to eat "dry old hard chicken" then this is for you. However, I like GREAT soft FRESH TASTING CHICKEN with a GREAT MOLE SAUCE and this was NOT THE CASE. I had to chew on that chicken in order to even swallow it, the rice had NO FLAVOR it was DRY AND ALMOST CRISPY. The service was OK, YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE RUSHED!! Sure WISH I would have just gone to my ALL TIME FAVORITE MEXICAN RESTAURANT "LA Sierra" in the small town of Dundee. But, being that I was in Sherwood chose Mazatlan, BUT NEVER EVER AGAIN, Mr Owner of Mazatlan you better review and CHECK how your "chicken" is prepared and HOW OLD THAT CHICKEN IS..Wow. And the same with your RICE. Extremely DISSAPOINTED and will certainly pass this on to all my...

The food here is spectacular. They have a large menu like most other typical Mexican restaurants in the area. What I love about this particular spot is the atmosphere and the staff. They are always friendly and the place is always clean from my experience, pre COVID. Now that we do takeout orders they have someone to take your order over the phone and the food is always done on time when they say it will be ready and the food is hot or warm. I live about twelve minutes away so I usually have to reheat but it’s no big deal for me. They staple the tops of the to go plates so the food doesn’t spill out when driving which for me is a huge plus. All in all you really can’t go wrong and in my opinion the seafood burrito is better than the...
