Very good homemade pizza, but a few downsides. First, there is only one type of crust ("regular."). I prefer a deep dish or a stuffed crust. Second, I substituted salami for sausage and I barely got one ounce of meat. I counted two pieces of sausage on each piece (Even Domino's gives you more than that). Spiro's has three sizes. Small (10"), Medium (12"), and what they call a "large" at 14" Most places that is a medium, and 16" is a large and 18" is an extra large. I can get any extra large pizza at Soprano's with five or more ingredients (The House Special, for instance) for the same price as a 14-inch Spiro's combination pizza, $33.50. What I am trying to figure out is how a $33.50 pizza came out to $42.85 after adding only one more ingredient to their "Number Nine." Tax was about $4.00, so that means they are charging $5.00 per extra ingredient, and this is without a tip (I added another $3.00 not giving it much thought at the time. Benny, the man in front, is very friendly and he has a nice place here, a cozy, quaint Italian-style setting with views of Aurora Ave. looking east. For me, you just don't get enough product for the price when it comes to their pizzas. They have many other products too, like sandwiches and pasta dishes, but those I can make at home as I am a chef, myself. Pizza to make at home takes too long, so I order out. But I hate to say it, my visits at Spiro's are...
Read moreThe pizza is just okay and it’s $25 just for a cheese without anything else. Way overpriced. And they don’t take Apple Pay like every other business in 2025. Like three times I’ve been over there with just my phone and I keep forgetting because 99.9% of the businesses in this world these days take the appropriate payment methods for 2025. So it’s a very special place in a bad way. When I asked why they don’t take Apple Pay the lady said “oh it’s much too expensive for us to do that“ and yet every other little Mom and pop business in our area takes it even this little hamburger place that I’m sure isn’t making a whole lot of money . And when they’re charging these crazy prices, you would think they would take Apple Pay or just jack your prices up a little bit more and then take Apple Pay. Another thing they don’t do is let delivery services pick up from there so you can’t do Uber eats or anything like that . They need to get with the times. They should call it Amish pizza or something like that The only reason that I’ve been over there a few times is because my sister really likes their sandwich so maybe that’s OK but the pizza wasn’t very good and they don’t tell you the price over the phone so that you get there and you realize that the pizza is really expensive and then you bring it home and it’s...
Read moreI've been coming here for years I like the food generally. Is it a little bit overpriced? Yes it is. But I like supporting local businesses. I came in tonight for my $36 pizza and the girl at the register asked me if I was there for a pickup and I said yes and I HANDED her My credit card. With my hand outstretched she literally lowered the card below my hand and set it on the countertop. That may seem minor but she intentionally made me pick my card up off the countertop rather than hand it back to me. Of course rather than doing the customary $5 or $7 tip that I would normally do when picking up my own pizza, I filled out the form on the receipt to indicate zero tip. I mean come on, I'm paying 36 bucks for some wheat and a few slices of pepperoni, and some tomato sauce. That's a passive aggressive move. And it's meant to dismiss me as a human being, and as a customer. Their countertop is very small and if she can't hand me back the card that I actually handed her then she is intentionally dismissing me as both a customer and a human being. She is not a supporter of your business she is a detractor of your business. She must be related to the owner to act so dismissively towards a...
