“The House” is a TRUE GEM! Laid-back, fun, atmosphere that often has live music. They have a huge calendar on the wall outside, across from the main entrance that shows when they will have live entertainment, and who it will be. There was a long line at the counter to order on both locations that we were there, but the line moved fairly quickly. There’s a reason why there’s a line, and it’s because the food is so delicious and the atmosphere is so lovely. The servings are very generous. The food does take a long time to come because they are so busy and the kitchen is small, but there are plenty of places to sit outside in the shade or the sun and to enjoy the music while playing corn hole or giant Jenga. People were even throwing a football on the lawn. Very family-friendly atmosphere. There is a full bar out on the patio/lawn area. It’s an experience to be there, and we did not mind the wait for our food at all. We enjoyed the donut burger, which was ginormous; we subbed the crispy onions for the regular fried onions, as fried onions have to be really well done or they upset our stomachs. The donut burger is a huge ground beef patty with onions, bacon, cheese, and aioli, plus a fried egg; all piled between two full-size glazed donuts. My husband said the sweetness of the donut burger was reminiscent of the sweetness of a teriyaki burger. Not that it tasted at all like a teriyaki burger, he just said that it was sweet it added a nice touch to his meal. The house-made chips are incredible!!! Best. Chips. Ever. If it hadn’t been for the huge line at the counter, and the long wait for food, we might have ordered six or even 10 sides of chips after we tried them, to take home in a big bag and keep in our pantry. Amazing chips! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of the house hash. The biscuits and gravy were kind of a miss for us because they had grated cheese on them and green onions; lots of cheese and lots of green onions. Not what we expected or what we were looking for; we prefer the more traditional biscuits and gravy. If we order it again, we will know to order it without the cheese and onions. The homemade house hash, which is made from diced potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and jalapeños, was quite delicious, albeit a little spicy. Not super spicy, just a little spicy… “The Barn Creamery and Sweets” is their separate building on-property for delicious homemade ice cream, cookies, brownies, and other treats. We were too full after our brunch to stop in at the creamery, but we have been there on a separate occasion and enjoyed the items we ordered. We definitely give “The House” five stars all the way around and will be adding it to our list of regular places to eat during the six months of each year that we live...
Read moreI ate here by myself in September, I went to Discount tire just around the corner. There was a long wait to have the tires rebalanced. So I walked over to The House restaurant so I could see what it was all about. The weather was warm and very pleasant.
The facility is unique, and you can find seating inside as as outside. They have heating units for those customers who want to be outside even when it is chilly or downright cold. Plus, the outside tables have umbrellas that can be raised up to provide shade and protection in the summer.
The staff is very friendly and polite. They are very excited about their special Sloppy Joe they were promoting last week. They deliver your food to your table after you order and pay at the counter where you walk in. Food is served in cardboard containers, which you can use as a to go box if you need to.
I returned to eat in this establishment with my son in November and the third time with my in-laws. If my memory serves me correctly, I have enjoyed their Burgers, as well as well as the White Mountains salad, and I add pulled pork on top of the salad. If you like Coleslaw, don't pass up their spicy Coleslaw. The surf and turf burger was very delicious and filling by the time I polished off the Coleslaw. I was thinking maybe I should have taken some of it home for later. As for the burger patty it looks a little small to me, but you can not complain about its flavor.
Across the Walkway as you enter the courtyard, to the left, you will see their ice parlor. People get ice cream at this place, no matter what the ambient temperature is. It has to be really good! I love ice cream, unfortunately it's loves me more and it refuses to let go. 😂 But truth is that sugar makes me sleepy and I feel much better since I changed to my sugar free lifestyle. Now if you like ice cream, I have been told that this is an excellent place to get really great ice cream.
I don't consume alcoholic beverages. So I can't comment on their bar. This place has free high-speed internet. They have the password for guests posted in from the front counter.
The parking directory in front is limited, yet a short skip to the west of The House restaurant is plenty of free parking.
Handicap accessibility definitely, Yes! The facility doesn't have any steps going up or down. Except for the cub out front along the curb. But you can easily access the house entrance from the street out front or from the driveway and parking lots on...
Read moreI've been here twice now. This second time was on our 16th wedding anniversary with family. I will say the outdoor atmosphere is awesome. If it wasn't for that I probably would have rated it at 3 stars. They have outdoor firepits, outdoor heaters, outdoor seating and string lights that draw your eye from one place to another. It is an atmosphere that draws you and your company in and gives you plenty of reasons to stay outside even on very cold evenings. I will say this restaurant accomplished my number one restaurant pet peeve. I absolutely hate when restaurants that have you order at a counter do not have a posted menu behind the counter or in this case, based on their space, I thought it would have been more useful to have a large printed menu outside the doors that is weather proof. Once you walk in you are warmly greeted but then handed a paper menu and everyone is gathered near the ordering area holding these paper menus and everyone is trying to figure out who is actually in line and already knows what they want or not. 🙄
I've been here twice now and the burgers/hot dogs both times have been overcooked, underwhelming and lacking flavor. Tonight I tried the "house burger". I figured how could a burger with roasted poblano chili, pepper jack cheese, fried onion strings & Chipotle aioli not have flavor? Right? Wrong! To this moment I still can't figure it out but it didn't. All I could taste was the seasoning on the burger but even that wasn't anything special. The only fried onion strings I could locate fell off into the box it was delivered to me in. The homemade chips and the pickle slice was good so I'm glad my meal came with those things because I finished ALL of that. 😆 I thought maybe I just chose a weaker menu item in general but my husband got a different burger and wasn't impressed either. I did appreciate that the container my burger came in was foldable to make taking leftovers home very easy because after paying $34 for two burger meals with WATER CUPS I wasn't going to leave food on the table even though I didn't want to finish it myself. I will say the staff and the service was very good. It's just for a $34 two person dinner I'd rather go to Streets on Main in Snowflake for a better burger with FLAVOR (any flavor) and one I will...
