I recently hosted my mother's 75th surprise birthday bash at Mojo Risin', the charming coffee shop right next door to Gilligan's Island Bar in Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL, and it was an absolute blast! Melissa, the event coordinator, deserves a standing ovation for her exceptional work. Despite my son and me battling the flu, Melissa's unwavering support and patience helped me navigate decisions seamlessly.
Turning a coffee haven into a party paradise, Melissa curated a spectacular custom menu featuring tasty delights like shrimp, tripletail, pulled pork, coconut rice, mashed sweet potatoes, and other fresh sides. Melissa's almost 24/7 availability, prompt responses, and insightful suggestions tailored to my family dynamics made planning a joy. People traveled from out of state and even out of the country, and Melissa ensured everything ran smoothly.
A standout moment was when Melissa, amidst the chaos of the surprise reveal, personally ensured my mother felt like a VIP, welcoming her with her favorite tropical drink, PiƱa Coladas. Her attention to detail shone as the staff seamlessly transitioned from the big reveal to making everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. The personalized touch extended beyond the menu to the entire experience.
Her DJ recommendation, Nate, stole the show. The coffee shop transformed into a dance floor pulsing with our favorite tunes, thanks to Nate's impeccable choices. Compliments poured in for the DJ, delectable food, fantastic venue, and impeccable service. The staff's genuine enjoyment as they celebrated with us made the experience even more memorable.
Gilligan's Island Bar exudes laid-back charm, perfectly complementing the celebratory atmosphere. The indoor and outdoor patio setting and cozy ambiance added an extra layer of magic, creating an environment where everyone felt connected and joyous.
In essence, Mojo Risin', under Melissa's expert guidance, provided the perfect setting for a memorable celebration. If you seek an event seamlessly combining top-notch coordination, mouthwatering cuisine, and an unforgettable atmosphere, look no further than Mojo Risin' at Gilligan's Island Bar. A heartfelt thank you to Melissa, Mike, and their incredible team for turning our coffee-fueled celebration into my mother's milestone birthday an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMixed feelings. Inlaws and I had been going here ALL week. The coffee was phenomenal and we dealt with the same two girls all week, they pretty much had our drinks down by the third day. I wish they had name tags but there was really tall blonde and an average height brunette, they were the two girls we had all week. They were fabulous and the coffee was the closest thing to the great coffee shop we have back home. However, we went in on our last day, excited for one last coffee trip, and it was nothing but awful. We dealt with some guy in a man bun and a really tiny brunette. The drinks were awful, nothing like what we got all week. We have gotten the same drinks every morning all week, so why were they SO different today? My white chocolate and hazelnut was not sweet at all, like there was no white chocolate in it. Then my husband ordered a mango smoothie, we watch the guy make it with no dairy in it, like okay fine. The definition of a smoothie is a thick, smooth drink of fresh fruit pureed with milk, yogurt, or ice cream. What we got is a mango slushy. Fine. Then the guy was extremely rude to my husband, questioning if the drink was his when he called it out. Then proceeded to give him attitude about it. I had to walk out or I was going to get mouthy. Completely ridiculous what we dealt with...

My brother in law ordered a Frappuccino to which this guy replied very rudely āWe donāt do frappes, thatās a Starbucks thing. We could do a blended drink.ā š š Whatās so funny about that is in the middle of his arrogant attitude he was also parading his ignorance of coffee by saying that. As someone with 8+ years of barista experience and training, in coffeeshops other than Starbucks, I can assure you a frappe is definitely not just a Starbucks thing.
He proceeds to make a āblended drinkā leaving over half of the mixture in the blender and dumping it down the drain. No concept of making the right amount to fit the drink size. Over half of the coffee was dumped down the drain leaving zero coffee flavor in the frappe. Would recommend to management, both some training and knowledge of coffee for your employees and an attitude adjustment for this particular male employee. None of the coffee and smoothies we got this afternoon were very good, unfortunately. Will not be returning and would...
