I love famous Dave’s the ribs have always been out of this world. This evening I went in one of my favorite famous Dave’s here in Sioux City which I frequently visit with my family. I was met by a very rude host. He was arguing with my father of gratuity that famous Dave’s requires 18% for a party over 8. I questioned why and asked if there was a way to accommodate us and split us up with different checks. The manager said no and that we were already a large party and if we didn’t wanna pay the tip we could go eat somewhere else. The bartender jumped and said the same thing which was “well if you don’t like it go eat somewhere else. We thought that was extreme and said well no we’re okay paying 18%. They decided to tell us 20 minutes there should be a table. Then after 20 minutes they said we’d have to wait an hour. He said it would be best if we ordered it food to go and left the facility. It was very very condescending and inappropriate. We decided to leave. Texas Roadhouse not only accommodated us but were friendly and our family enjoyed our meal. I love famous Dave’s and I’ve seen so many workers come and go as I’ve always gone to the famous Dave’s in Sioux City. I hope the bartender and the host move on soon. They were rude smug and very happy to be ugly to long time famous...

My niece and I stopped in at the Sioux City location after a long day of driving from Montana. Our waiter, Famous Jesse, was energetic and friendly. After we ordered, Jesse came back to tell us that the BBQ chicken, which my niece had ordered, was still roasting and would not be ready for 30 more minutes. She ordered something else. When he brought our food he said that his manager wanted to offer us a free dessert for the inconvenience of the BBQ chicken. We were pleasantly surprised. We finished and were stuffed. It was delicious. The manager came by asked us how everything was. We told her it was great. I then asked her if instead of a dessert, since we were stuffed, if she could just take 10% off my nieces entree. She agreed without hesitation. She returned with the bill and said that instead of 10% she took the price of a dessert off my nieces' entree, which turned out to be about 25%. We thanked her, paid our bill and left. This is the kind of customer service that most places of business are lacking these days, but for the Famous Daves and manager at the Sioux City location, this is the kind of customer service that brings customers back. Thank you for...

Well with any restaurant, everything depends on how you feel going in, wether you can be fair with your assessment of services rendered. Having said that, we went in with high expectations and they were met. Our server was megan, who was also working the bar. She took our order quickly, we never waited on a refill on our drinks, besides being very attentive, she answered any questions we had about the menu. She made our experience very pleasant . Now the food. It was great. We both had 3 meat plates, we both got totally different meats on our plates. The brisket was absolutely delicious and the burnt ends. The hot sausage was not what I was expecting and didn't care for it much, but everything else was good. My wife and I highly recommend famous Dave's bbq . Hope your experience is as good or better than ours, but for us we will be back and happy about it.

Update: The music is back! Back to five stars for an atmosphere that really brings the experience of eating here to life. Still a great location, never been disappointed for the most part with the food or service. Catfish fingers and the remoulade sauce are a personal favorite. The Pineapple steaks can sometimes be hit or miss depending on how ripe the pineapple is, but worth the gamble to try. Salmon is done well also. The only real compliant is still the change to the music. It used to match the flavor of the theme, rich with blues music you wouldn't normally seek out, but enjoyed discovering new music thanks to. Now it's you're generic top 40 with an occasional blues song put in. Bring back the old playlist and the place easily gets a five star.

Its hard for me to find good BBQ outside of Texas but this place didn't disappoint. Brisket was soft and juicy but was lacking seasonging for me at least. Now the jalapeño and cheese sausage, on the other hand was pretty damn good as well as the ribs. As far as the sides go I had potato salad and my wife had curly fries which are both good options. If I'm every in the area again I will definitely stop in for another bite.
