Although the food & coffee at Queen City is amazing, I’m giving them a 3/5 solely due to customer service. Last fall, I visited with my sister. It was late afternoon on a Saturday, and they weren't busy at all. I was met with a very cold & annoyed barista who treated us like we were nuisances for being there. I tried not to let her poor attitude get to me since everyone has bad days, & I like to give stores second chances. However, I went back again yesterday to grab a coffee & food to-go to celebrate my birthday. I went at 10am on a Saturday, so they were much busier, but the line was moving quickly. The customer service I received was even worse this time. The barista kept asking “what else?” in an annoyed tone every time I added something onto my order, and he spoke to me like I’d personally wronged him. I’m a very easy & forgiving customer. As someone with social anxiety, I always make sure to order quickly & efficiently when there’s long lines, and I always speak kindly & with a smile. To be met with hostility from the baristas on two different occasions makes me question the culture that’s been created at Queen City. Even though the food & decor is terrific, it’s not worth it to feel belittled & talked down to, especially on my own birthday. Based on some of the reviews I’ve read, I’m not the first person to receive this treatment. I seriously hope the managers look into their customer service & do some reflection, because if that’s the only thing keeping customers from returning, it feels like a waste of a...

This is the place to come for amazing quiche, I think about the quiche often during my week, it's that good. Espresso is great, blueberry crumb bar --also great. Food here is without question, incredible and memorable. The thing I was a little uneasy about was the general atmosphere of the staff. Particularly the pretty, long haired brunette. Every time I have been here I've had some sort of interaction with her, she rings me up, takes my order, plops a food item down in front of me. So I feel like this is pretty steady behavior. Look, I think if you're going to have grumpy staff, that's totally fine, your food and efficient service more than make up for it. So if that's the route you want to take, I think you should just lean into it or try to be a little more friendly. It would almost be a cool shtick to have, sort of like the Soup Nazi, ya know? But if that's not what you're going for then perhaps...perhaps...just don't glare at every customer that you're helping. I'm almost 100% sure it's nothing personal at all, but that's not a great point of argument when you work in customer service. Again though, I don't even care if you're still mildy and unintentionally rude to me (I'm oversensitive anyway), I'll keep coming back for the quiche chefs kiss.

-Sincerely, a girl who also has RBF but has been working on...

To be perfectly honest if things go wrong anymore this is the first place I am heading to. It is usual that I am not happy when I get here however every time I leave that is no longer the case. It is not a stretch for me to say that quality baked goods are good for your soul as well as essential to maintaining a decent standard of life. At least when I am replying to emails I don't really want to read I have a nice place to sit and I am eating a delicious treat. A fresh variety of quality baked goods are the things that make life bearable and not so bad after all. Even better is every staff member is definitely into working here. This is not a place where anyone hates their job and it really shows. 10/10 Baked goods, 10/10 Environment, and 10/10 Staff. You guys are killing it.

Now if you'll excuse me I am headed back for more emotional support baked goods and...

Every time we’re in Sioux Falls, Queen City Bakery is a must-visit for us. It’s such a special place, known not only for its incredible drinks and baked goods but also for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Their quiche is my personal favorite — it’s always perfectly made, with a buttery crust and rich, flavorful filling. Whether you’re stopping in for a slice of pie, a savory treat, or just a great cup of coffee, everything here feels homemade and full of care. Mitch and his family truly make Queen City Bakery feel like home. You can tell how much pride they take in what they do, and the entire staff is always so kind and friendly. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. If you’re in Sioux Falls and looking for something delicious (and a genuinely welcoming experience), don’t miss Queen City Bakery!

I mean it was good and all but for the price, we weren't to sure we received a good value. The frosting didn't really have any taste or weight to it. Fresh flavor in the cake itself but overall nothing that made me think I should buy it again. 🥲 *Edited* The owner denied replying to this review stating he doesn't know who did when I called the store. Either way, he offered a gift card to cover another 8" cake after we had a discussion about the cake making process. The frosting on this particular cake goes through a process where the egg whites are whisked with sugar among other things to create an almost weightless cream. He said it was swiss so maybe our party misinterpreted what we ordered.

Wonderfully spacious coffee shop in a great location on the east bank of downtown. Watch out! If you try their quiche, you'll probably have to order it every time you visit because it is amazing. The "hammer" sandwich is also a favorite of mine. Pictured here is another highlight, their chocolate almond croissant. Their "best drink ever" is a very tasty 'not too sweet' iced coffee. Great service. Great environment. I highly recommend.
