Caffè Nero — Restaurant in Somerville

I’m not one to review at all , but this has been an extensive 6 month long bad experience every time with these folks who work at this location specifically. We saw the turnover from the previous staff who were so lovely in 2024, but 2025 this staff needs some work on their attitudes and kindness to their customers. This location constantly does not offer friendly service to fellow workers in the area even when we go in to pick up our orders in uniform at the designated pick up time. They constantly purposely burn or overcook sandwiches (even when there is a note to lightly toast it so the bread isn’t incredibly tough and hard and impossible to eat,) they do not pay attention to the pick up orders regardless if it’s busy or not on that side of things at all and maybe that is staffing issue- but I am constantly given very dirty looks and not treated very kindly by those who work there when I am picking up my order or there is always an issue where I have to wait additional time (10-15 mins) off my work shift to have them make the item that should’ve been made 10-15 mins ago when my pick up time was allegedly allocated, usually because they just didn’t see there was a pick up order to be made. It is a very convenient location but today, I let a worker know they gave me a pretty cold breakfast sandwich that should’ve been “lightly toasted” today and that I’ve had many bad experiences every-time I order and she chose to turn her back and walk away, that is not very kind or good service for fellow workers in the direct area. Very disappointed and will not be returning to this location due to poor treatment and poor staffing issues. Hope they get this figured out. Could be a great place without all those...

I went in yesterday 3/28/25 to ask if they had limited seating times. I waited at the counter and saw 3 baristas, two with their backs to me at the espresso machine. The 3rd barista with braids comes from the side doorway and asks if she can help me. I ask her the question, and she looked confused. I figured she didn’t hear me. As I proceeded to repeat my question she cuts me off with “You can’t drink that here! We charge you to eat here.” I responded “Ok, of course. You have to be a paying customer to sit here. I just want to know if there is a time limit on seating?” She kept on and on about me needing to change my cup and pay to eat there. As she pointed at my coffee cup from another cafe. Very embarrassing and unnecessary! I was taken aback. Like, what?? Did I ask you that? And what makes you think I’m not going to pay? Well now I’m NOT. How disgusting, incompetent and rude! I said thank you and left. CN you NEED to check in with your teams. I find it interesting that you open stores in affluent communities with majority working professionals, yet you employ people with less than savory attitudes. You already don’t make them wear name tags, so there goes the accountability factor. For the prices you charge, you should be hiring people that have exceptional awareness and decency. I have had a wonderful experience at this coffee shop. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was amazing, with a cozy yet modern vibe that made it the perfect place to unwind. The space is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and great attention to detail in the design, creating an ideal environment for relaxing or catching up on work.

The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the offerings. The coffee was rich and flavorful, brewed to perfection, and really hit the spot. Along with the coffee, I tried the banana bread, and it was absolutely delicious—moist, fresh, and full of flavor. I would rate both the coffee and the banana bread a solid 9.5/10.

Another great feature is the ample outdoor seating, which makes it perfect for enjoying the fresh air on nice days. Whether you’re in the mood to sit outside or inside, there’s plenty of space to relax. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the experience even better.

Overall, I had a fantastic time, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot to enjoy delicious coffee and snacks. I’ll definitely be back! A solid...
