Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park — Attraction in Somerville

We love this park-- it is next to the marina, and being near water is lovely, next to the orange line, and there is plenty of shade. There is a slippery blue wall that is the most amazing play structure ever, for some reason, and sprinklers for hot days! Also, one of those spinning things (the name escapes me) but this one is enhanced, there are smaller spinning things on the spinning thing, and pirate nets. I can bring the kids here and they will okay for literally hours!! It is near tons of restaurants, all within walking distance, and the parking garage (a one minute walk) is FREE for the first THREE HOURS (do not be seduced by the metered parking!) It's a beautiful small city park in Assembly Rowe with a very nice children's playground. All of my kids played there for years so I have a lot of fond memories there. There's always a good amount of wildlife, ducks, canadian goose, swans, mergansers swimming in the river nearby. There's even a wildlife observation deck in the middle of the park as well. Of course, the sunset over the bridge is always a special treat...

Nice, convenient park along the Mystic River. Lots of activities scheduled; yoga, concerts and the annual Riverfest with fireworks. Street parking with meters or garage parking free for 3 hours.
