Delicious spicy Thai! I am delighted with the Panang Curry and so glad I stopped by for their lunch special, which included a vegan fried spring roll. This is no wimpy watery curry like you will find at some places. It is a rich and thickly spiced Panang Curry. I ordered it spicy 8 on a scale of 1-10 and was delightfully surprised to actually break a slight sweat (rare for me). I had mine over tofu and veggies, and it came served with a side of aromatic steamed jasmine rice. The spring roll was delicious, though small, and the Thai Iced-tea ranks up there with some of the best I've had. Will definitely be back! (EDIT - 2 Years Later): This is still my favorite Thai restaurant in the Greenville area!! If you really love spices and are up for a firey flavor adventure, ask them about their secret Thai spice scale. It wasn't until recently that I found out they actually go up to a 40 on the scale, not the "1 to 10" that they ask you when you order. Wish I'd known sooner! It took about 3 weeks of going back every week and trying it hotter each time 15, 25, 35, to see if I could handle it, and work up the courage to try the 40. They call it "Dragon's Breath", and while I wasn't breathing fire at the end of it, I did feel the heat and broke a nice sweat but didn't need to drink the extra water they brought out, "just in case". Just what I was craving! Thank you Kannika's and crew, for the excellent service and humoring this very adventurous customer in my quest for spice! I ordered the Pad nam prik pao cashew stirfry, and it was wonderfully done! Beautiful flavors, and yes I could still taste the masterful balance of food, texture, flavors, and spice. Delicious! I love Kannika's! If you're ever in the Greenville, SC area and craving good spicy Thai, Kannika's on Haywood is the place to go!

If you blink while driving you’re going to miss it. Hidden in a small shopping center Kannikas is a local Thai restaurant that I’ve been wanting to try. Parking is thought during lunch but there is an additional parking lot in the back. When you first walk in there is a smell. Like a musty odor that I had a hard time dealing with but we were determined to try the food so we sat down anyways. Thankfully the musty odor is really only in the front of the restaurant. Service was quick, the lunch menu is very easy to follow. We also got the soup which is only on the dinner menu but they serve it anytime. We went with Tom Yum with shrimp with a level 5 spice. Level 5 was just a hint of spice for us and we do enjoy spicy food. I got the Panang Curry with chicken. The curry and vegetables were great but the chicken was dry. My husband got the seafood stir fry and really enjoyed his at the level 10 spice which we thought might be too much but after eating the soup at a level 5 that was not the case. Overall we enjoyed the food, our server was really helpful and gave us suggestions for next time, and despite the age of the actual restaurant it was a great experience. We will definitely be back to try more.

I went here for lunch around 1:30 and it was packed. They only had two servers on hand and no hostess so it took a while for me to be seated. From what I overheard from a regular that's not typical. But do keep this in mind for your own visit. However, my server was always quick and efficient when she could attend to me. The kitchen staff is also very quick to churn out food. For lunch, all meals come with a spring roll. It's about what you can expect from any roll and duck sauce from an Asian place. My entree was the chicken Gaeng Daeng (Red) curry at a spice level of 10. It was very good. I'd say their 10 is 3-4x as spicy as an average jalapeño. Their lunch portions are generous though for a rice fiend such as myself, they charge $1 for additional rice. I can just make some at home so I took it to go which leads me to the next point. Their to go box is lined with aluminum to keep the sauce from bleeding through. Clever stuff.

Absolutely Delicious food… but the food isn’t the problem. The customer service needs work. (The 2 stars is because the food is delicious… but the service…)

On 06/22 I Attempted to call in a take-out order. Someone answered the phone and advised me that there would be a 45 minute wait. This was not a problem. I let them know, and was placed on hold.

I remained on hold half an hour, with noone ever coming back to the phone. I remained patient in the beginning, and took the time to go ahead and travel to the Haywood road area.

I finally hung up and called back at the 30 minute mark. The same individual I had spoken to previously answered the phone. I let them know I had been on hold for around 30 minutes waiting to place a to-go order. I received an apology and was told “Someone else was supposed to take your order, but we have been busy” Completely understandable. This is a restaurant. At this time he offered to take my order.

When I asked about the wait, Since I was previously told it was a 45 minute wait 30 minutes prior… I was now told “let me count the tickets….. it’s about a 50 minute wait now.”

And at that point I was only told “I can still take your order if you want” to which I expressed my displeasure with the situation and explained that I’d be taking my business elsewhere.

It’s a shame… as the food here is delicious. The staff is generallyfriendly from my past visits, but the customer service absolutely needs work. I understand the business was busy.. but had my order been taken when I called, or even when I called back and put where my ticket should have actually been in queue… this wouldnmt have bren such a negative experience.

Do...

The only reason I'm leaving 2 stars is because the food was good. Only complaint regarding food/ordering is that 8/10 spice tasted like 3/10. No biggie.

The reason I'm leaving the low rating is because I feel deceived. I reviewed the itemized receipt after getting home because the rough math I was doi g in my head wasn't adding up to what I was charged. AH HA! They have "TO GO charge" that adds 10% to the total. If I was made aware of this on the phone prior to placing my order cool, but that was not the case. I get that times are tough and we have to sometimes get creative with how we earn and/or conserve money, but we should never compromise our ethics to do it.

Response to owner: I can't claim to know everything, but this is the first time I've seen this charge anywhere, hence the feeling of being deceived. Also, before leaving my review, I checked all reasonably available online menu resources and the 10% charge isn't mentioned anywhere. Am I supposed to just know you have it on a take-out menu in your restaurant? And having it on your receipt onlyeans I get to find out by surprise after driving 30 minutes to get the food. My suggestion would be to make to-go order callers aware of the charge and if they take issue, explain the reason for it (at least until it becomes standard industry practice). And if your you're concerned your emoyees aren't making enough money, maybe consider paying them more. Just be up front about your practices instead of assuming people know or falling back on "But it's on the menu you didn't see and the receipt you won't see until you drive all the way here," basically imying it's my fault for...
