I'm new to Michigan and I've been cooped up in the house due to the Pandemic. I decided to drive to South Haven from Kalamazoo, it was a easy ride with very little traffic. I researched restaurants in the area and decided to visit Admiral Jack. I found a great parking spot just outside of the restaurant. Here is why I gave them a 2 star. We are going through a historic time due to covid-19. I don't need to go out to restaurants but I choose to because I want to help out the business, but waiter's and waistress's need to show the highest level of Customer Service. I ordered a frozen Margarita...WOW!! This was absolutely the worst Margarita I've ever had, a few sips was all I took. I never was asked, how is the drink so, I ordered a Malibu and coke, no bartender can mess that up, right? I wanted some shrimp so I asked to you serve regular fried shrimp without coconut on them. The bartender replied that they don't but suggested the bomb bomb shrimp (I think). While waiting, I ordered another Malibu and coke. The shrimp finally came and from the look of them, something said you're not going to like these. I ate about 3 shrimps and that little voice that said you're not going to like these, was absolutely right. Once again the bartender didn't ask me how were the shrimps. So picture this a glass full of a frozen Margarita and a bowl full of shrimp and no comments from the bartender. I asked for my check and still left a $7 tip. I will never visit this place again. The Customer Service was horrible. Fyi: Encourage your staff to put forth an effort to give each and every customer that visit your restaurant a great experience. Let them know that each customer chose to spend their money with...
Read moreFirst of all we were visiting a friend that has a house in South Haven for the weekend. There were 4 of us 60 years old and like to have fun. We came to the Neon night and hung out for a while and had a great time. (Spent money)The bar tenders were great. Came back Saturday night for disco night. We were there for about an hour and a girl ask if we would like her table. We said sure because we knew they didn’t take reservations. Sat down and got yelled/ cussed at by a gal and she was with another gal and two guys. Saying the table was reserved for them. We didn’t move. Waiter came up and said the table was for them and we need to do the right thing and move!!! Now these four came in after us. The girl threatened to get Linda the manager. We still sat there. Remember we called and were told no reservations. A manager came to our tables dark headed man and told us, they are locals and spend a lot of money and we need to give them our table. We still can’t believe this happened to us visiting this cute town. We sat there and no one ever waited on us. We left after sitting for 35 minutes. The people flipped us off as leaving and said every word in the book to us. The girl had pink on and the other purple. You know who you are. So very disappointed in the way the manager and waiter treated us. As well as the locals. What happened to...
Read moreI have been really disappointed with the food experiences in South Haven and Admiral Jacks Bar & Grill is no exception. The 2 hour wait time for our simple bar food was enough to write a review, but sadly that wasnt where it ended. Waiting for the food wasnt a huge problem especially if the food was actually good but atleast we had the chance to smell the stanky harbor water every little while floating around the boat. We ordered a simple calamari dish to start us off to find a clump of tentacles and three overcooked circles which led us to chewing for 15 minutes straight. I ordered a "pound" of crab which apparently 3 tiny legs is a pound. Once we actually got to eating the crab we feared we would get massive diarrhea so we stopped eating before the incoming stomach cleanse. I have had better crab in the sushi from kroger. Not only did it look undercooked but when I walked near the kitchen all I saw was emptied boxes and plastic bags, seems high quality right. Well the up side is that it was only 25 dollars for 3 tiny undercooked crab legs. The waitress so generously took the 11 dollar overcooked perch off the tab but left the 25 dollar crab on there. Also the icing on the cake, never got my water refilled for 2 hours. Never will go here again do not recommend unless you want to be on the toilet for...
