I will say that I will usually NEVER complain or write a bad review about any business until I speak with them about the issue first. This was unacceptable. I highly advise not giving a restaurant like this business. Go to El Paraiso instead.
My family and I bought takeout last night to bring back to our marina and eat. Everyone was friendly and the food was out quick. As soon as we sat down and I opened up our food to eat, I was hit with an awful smell but brushed it off. As soon as each of us took the first bite we knew something was off. As soon as we tasted the beans we all were almost sick. They tasted horribly burnt and chemical like, as if someone had melted a large piece of plastic in the beans (if you've ever badly melted something in the microwave this is almost then taste/smell I'm describing). The beans and most of the other food that shared the container with them was inedible. Mind you, we own a plastics recycling factory here in town and we are no stranger to burnt plastic smells nor are we picky about food.
After salvaging any part of the meal we could, we were all discouraged and sickened but that is not why I'm posting this.
I went in today (with most of the food we bought) to explain what happened and to allow them a chance to make it right. The manager had just run out and I said I could wait for him but the kind employees insisted on just telling them. They agreed this was unacceptable and phoned their manager to ask to refund us. Over the phone, the manager attempted to negotiate with me on my reimbursement. "Did you eat any of the food?" "How much of it did you eat?" "Well will you do 50% back?"
I said this was absolutely unacceptable. It ruined our family meal and most all of our appetites. I kept insisting that I would speak with him when he's back because I felt bad pinning this on the employees. He reluctantly agreed to pay the full amount back after speaking on the phone for a very long time with an employee.
I was really saddened by this experience. I do not believe this is how a good manager should operate a restaurant. We would have gladly accepted a gift card and an apology and given them another chance, but instead he reluctantly gave us the exact amount in cash of what we paid last night with no apologies whatsoever.
They have lost my family and me as customers forever -- and not even because our food...
Read moreThe atmosphere is OK. The staff are not attentive. The food is loaded with onions and peppers but they don't put that on the menu. My quesadilla was soggy in the bottom from too much sauce(which tasted like watered down taco sauce)and it was just one small tortilla folded over with meat, onions and peppers. It didn't even have any cheese. Not worth the $10 they charge for it. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you get. My side of beans were very runny and the rice is a little dry. I'm not sure if that is what authentic Mexican food is supposed to be like but I'll pass on this one. My husband however said he loved everything. They have not been open long so hopefully they will get better. On the plus side they did give us a small basket of tortilla chips(greasy and unsalted)that tasted homemade with salsa(watery and tastes like only cilantro)for free on our table when we ordered our meals. If you go be prepared to spend between 10 and 20 dollars for food that is mostly onions, peppers, and watery sauce over meats like ground beef, beef tips, shredded beef, chicken, and...
Read moreWent here with my family on a Monday evening. We walked in, and immediately noticed the floors were super slippery, and the place was packed. We ordered, and we waited for a bit. And waited, and waited, for about 40 minutes, and my brother gets up to go to the bathroom and he slips on the floor. We asked one of the workers there, and he said the floors were slippery because of the cooks coming in and out of the kitchen and grease falling on the floor. We wait for about a whole hour and a half, deciding on whether to leave or not, and our food finally arrives. The steak my dad ordered was bland and chewy, and my mom's food did not have tomatoes, lettuce, or rice, and her steak was salty and chewy. I ordered the steak tacos, with my brother ordering it as well, and they were really underwhelming for the hour and a half wait, and my mom mentioned her food felt and looked reheated in a microwave. I do not recommend going on a busy evening. We have ordered from here a few times, but this time, the food and service was...
