Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in South Jordan

I am extremely disappointed in my most recent experience! 🤬 I came in on a Friday night, it was fairly busy. I waited in line and placed an order for my family, which was a decent size order. When I got over to the section just before paying, I asked for chips and queso. I was told the queso would be a couple of minutes, which I agreed to wait. I went on and paid for my order, and I patiently waited for the chips and queso. However, I was not given the chips nor the salsa when I completed my order either, which I thought was weird. As I patiently sat and waited for the queso and chips, I grabbed utensils and napkins, as my order was for takeout to take home for my family. I heard the two people behind me in line also order chips and queso and they were also told it will be a few minutes. After about 10 minutes, I watched the girl at the register take out 2 cups of queso to the two people that ordered behind me, and deliver it to their tables. I was expecting to also receive mine, as I ordered before them, but I didn’t even get acknowledged! She simply proceeded to go back to ringing other customers up. 😢 I stepped a couple of steps closer to her, and she said, ‘Excuse me, what are you waiting for?’ I reiterated I had ordered chips and queso and didn’t get the chips, nor the salsa, nor the queso. She responded with ‘Let me check on that, I know it was going to be a few minutes’…. I was a bit baffled having seen what I already witnessed. She then just ignored me and went back to running the register. In this moment I realized two young ladies who had placed an online order were also waiting on 2 orders of chips and queso, and sadly their food had been ready for about 10 minutes already. They had also not received any help. I waited over 12 more minutes before anyone had recognized I was still waiting. Nobody even came back and spoke to me again. I had to go back into the line, and ask for queso again, which I was told it would still be a few more minutes! At this point, I had now waited well over 25 minutes after paying for my food and collecting napkins and utensils. I’m certain my food was getting cold at this point! Then asked again for the chips and queso to which a different employee came from the back to ask me what I was needing. She walked straight over and grabbed queso and brought it out. I still had to ask for the chips and salsa again, which I also received promptly. Where had this lady been the whole time!?!? Remember those two females who had also ordered the chips and queso..? I listened to them also have to ask for chips and queso and sit and wait for it still. Wow!! Nothing was offered for compensation, no apology was given, so sad! An extremely terrible representation of customer service! I had some neighbors tell me not to go to this restaurant and to use a different location, now I...

Linda has been excellent--she knows our orders and is very conscientious! My son has special needs and she always accommodates to make it an easy pleasant experience--THANK YOU! Food and atmosphere is great--better than other CR I've been to.

some of people on this Shift can be pretty rude--maybe it's a language barrier--but I think smiles and kindness doesn't require words! Have eaten here for several years. . Often once a week. 6.8.24. Christian (the tall one with blond hair) Has always been kind to us--I have a son with special needs, and he always makes it a great & peaceful experience! I would patronize any busy that has quality and most especially kindness and concern for customers in employees like Christian.

Businesses often don't realize what an impact someone like this has on their business, bottom-line, and the pleasure or displeasure in a restaurant experience. Hey, families also go out to eat to celebrate life and events!

Hey, the people that leave CR @district with low reviews is possibly because of the language barrier, or complain about not being treated right. My family eats here 3 times a month. The food is ALWAYS Great and spot on. It always appears clean to us. Happy to dine here!

I complained to her. Please tell her I'm sorry. Usually she takes & makes orders, short with a long braid, I'm sure she's a good person.

I have never been so disappointed at a location in my life. I order the same thing with my family. Every time we come in the food was messed up and the lady threw up her hands swore at me in Spanish little does she know I know a little bit or enough to get by And called manager or fellow coworker to come and assist me because I was “too much work. I had two salads and three tacos. It was not that hard and she chose not to listen to me. When I said we required wheat shells. She put them on white I asked for corn tortillas she threw a fit and put them on flower, a very confusing experience this is never happened to us before at this location, but this will be why I don’t go back to this one on top of waiting in line for a minimum of 20 minutes every time and then rarely having grilled chicken when I ask, which also she chose to do shredded chicken instead of grilled chicken on all of our salads Despite me pointing this out to her twice and still having to pay full price and no one being willing to help me unprofessional rude, for how much I spent it’s unfair that they chose not to listen because they didn’t want to do their job. I’m not want to leave really bad reviews unless I’m really really really disappointed in service and this would have to be one of those times.
