Mahogany Smoked Meats — Local services in South Lake Tahoe

My family and I visit south Tahoe once a month. Every time we are here I would stop by this place to pick up 5-10 lbs of jerky. We stopped by today around 3:30pm with that same intention, however, the man behind the counter changed my mind. He was rude! He gave us the impression that we were not welcome there just by his first glance. He would engaged in conversation with other people in line but yet, ignored us completely. I hope this wasn’t because of my race. I asked whether he is the owner and he rudely said no. I rather spend my money elsewhere. This is the first time I see this man working here; previous employees were friendly and nice. I will not come back if this man continues...

Great Jerky strange person behind the counter. On 11/30/24 at around 2pm me and my wife visited the store. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if I could try a sample. He said yeah what can I get you bud, in a way and a tone you would talk to a teenager, I’m 45. Before the sample was in my hand he said your welcome (I didn’t say thank you yet) as though I wasn’t the type to have manners and say thank you. I guess I had to do a preemptive thank you faster. I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but I have to write one for Mahogany Meats! I literally stopped being a vegetarian to get their jerky. I grew up getting their jerky every time we drove through Bishop down to the Palm Springs/San Diego from Reno. And then, as a twenty-something and six year vegetarian, we drove through Bishop and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity for their texture and taste. And now they are in several locations!
