This is a good option for fast casual Mexican cuisine with friendly service and fresh tasty food. The menu offers your typical dishes: many varieties of tacos (Al pastor, barbacoa, carnitas, fish, shrimp, veggie options, etc) as well as quesadillas, burritos, bowls, and other options. The "loaded" Al pastor burrito had a fantastic balance of flavors. The meat was well spiced in the classic Al pastor style and the pineapple added a nice sweet acidity to complement the rice, beans, cabbage, and pico. Although the burrito had an excellent taste, I have 2 complaints. First, the burrito was small for usual standards and at $11, should have been a bit bigger. Secondly, the burrito was supposed to have avocado salsa, which I couldn't identify within the burrito. I've also had the campechano tacos, which are tasty and topped with chicharon. The tacos have great flavor, but are quite overpriced at $12 for 3. $4 per taco is a bit steep in my opinion. The tortilla chips that came with the burrito are authentic and the salsa verde and salsa roja were fresh and delicious. Service was very friendly. The restaurant was clean. Seating is all outdoors and covered. There are fans and there was a nice breeze when I visited. All employees were wearing face masks properly (February 2021). Hand sanitizer was provided. Overall, this is a good option for fresh and delicious Mexican cuisine although the burrito a bit small for the price and tacos are a overpriced in my opinion. I probably wouldn't order the burrito again but I would still return for tacos, even if they are a little overpriced because they...
Read moreFOOD POISONING ALERT!!!! On 4/15/24 at 7:32 pm I called for 8 orders of tacos (2)birria (1)veg (2)chicken (3 )steak. The lady told me to rush over b/c they were already closing shop. We picked up our tacos and everyone shared all the tacos. Less than 24 hours later 5 people including 2 children were violently vomiting with diarrhea for the next 3 days straight. I missed 4 days of work, my kids missed 3 days of school, and my out of town visitor and her family's (which include 2 nurses) vacation was ruined. The vomiting and diarrhea was continuous, violent, and soul-crushing. It was a nightmare I wish upon no one. We easily deduced that the only food or drink the 5 sick people had in common was the birria tacos from La Placita. The other people who ate tacos did not get sick because they didnt try the Birria tacos like the rest. We are reporting this issue because we dont want anyone else to experience the horror that we did. P.s. I contacted the owner of the restaurant and he was standoffish and non-empathetic. His only questions was why did I take 4 days to contact him... because I was busy vomiting, sitting on the toilet and tending to my sick children!
UPDATE: I contacted the owner and it took him 1 week to respond (and clean his restaurant in time for the health department's visit). I regret contacting him now because he did nothing to make us whole and has not bothered to respond to me. All he did was cover his tracks. Poor business practices and no care for the community...
Read moreim beyond appalled at the reviews i’ve been reading in relation to so called “food poisoning” received by these “customers”. On the same date these people claimed they got food poisoning, I came to eat at La Placita with my bestfriend, both eager to eat the birria tacos. Neither her nor I received food poisoning from the food. In addition, want to state the both of us have pretty sensitive stomachs if that even makes a difference. I also continued eating there on a few consecutive days after. (Different foods such as the baja tacos, alambre arrachera tacos, birria tacos once again:) theyre delicious, chips and guac/pico, you get the gist) Never did I receive any food poisoning as these people are claiming to have gotten. I feel that these reviews may be someone with malicious intent towards the restaurant. I hate to see people tear down a small family owned business when they’re all probably trying their hardest to provide authentic mexican food for the...
