This is by far the worst Cafe Rio I've visited! And I have visited a lot (probably at least 10 plus locations). They were out of all meats except chicken and the chicken wasn't cooked well! Everyone in my family made a comment about how the food didn't taste right. The person taking orders went to a warming storage to get more chicken and I saw tons of trays of meat in there. Shouldn't they be making it fresh like in other locations? It seemed like they had made a bunch the day before and were trying to get rid of it so they put signs up saying they only had chicken. Very weird!

I went to get my favorite hot sauce and they had none out. I finally asked for a bottle and the lady went to get one. Thank goodness I got a new one since they really had no sauce available. Most of the bottles were empty that were out. I was able eat the flavorless chicken by dowsing it in Chulula sauce. Love that sauce!

The place was very dirty!! We sat by the door on the west side and there was water or soda all over the floor. I discovered later that this was the door they exit to dump the trash. The dirty water seemed to be seeping out of this area. Gross! The bathrooms were so, so disgusting! No toilet paper in the dispenser and 2 rolls on the floor. It smelled like someone urinated all over the floor. The guy before me said something to an employee as he came out of the bathroom and she just seemed to ignore him. She shrugged her shoulders like that's not my job to clean the bathroom. It was very bad! They need better management at this location! I will never go to...

This is by far the slowest Cafe Rio I have ever been too. We arrived at 11:30am right before the lunch rush. We walked right up to the counter and was greeted by one employee. Several were in the back clearly prepping food. This one employee very slowly prepped my burrito and put it in the warming oven. Then he starts prepping two tacos for my wife and 2 nino quesadillas. Meanwhile my burrito was ready to be finished. Lettuce and pico were added and then there it sat on the tray. Cashier asked what else we had and I paid for everything. He gave the drink cups to me but left the tray where it was for the rest of the food. After juggling 2 kids and filling up drinks, 15 minutes later my wife comes over with the food. As you can guess my burrito was completely cold. No idea what the hold up was for 2 tacos and to nino quesadillas, but wow I couldn't believe how long that took.

Side note, when we arrived it was really cold inside. The side door of the building was propped open so they could take out the garbage. I overheard someone else complain to an employee, and she walked over saying "Well the heat is on, yep 62 degrees." as she looked at the thermostat. In short it was very...

As most people have said, the service level here just isn't very good. Most of the older people you're ordering from can barely speak english. It takes often takes repeating something 5 or 6 times for them to get it right if they do indeed get it right. Then the product and the amount you get is horribly inconsistent as well. Some days I'll get a lot of cheese on my burrito - great. But on another day they may put just a tiny pinch of cheese on it, and when I ask for more cheese they charge me a whole dollar for what should have been a normal amount in the first place!

They're always looking for every little substitution or request to charge an extra fee on top of the already high cafe rio prices.

The lines can also be ridiculously slow, or they'll forget my order sitting in the oven for minutes at a time and forget about it, doing the orders of people behind me first.

There have also been times when I've been standing in line and they let the phones just ring 15-20 times without anyone bothering to pick up the phone. So good luck trying to order anything that way.

They just really seem to not know whats going on here a lot. That and nobody seems happy or friendly and they must all...

This is a difficult review because of my own personal taste, but I will try to make it as unbiased as possible. I came in at 2pm, after lunch rush and staff was cleaning up; wiping tables, reseting the line, prep, etc. Was greeted upon entering, and trash was being taken out. So, it is a clean restaurant. Food prices are adequate for what you get. $17 for a large burrito, drink and dessert; not bad. Fountain drink station was a it messy, but employee corrected it when I let her know, so staff is good about corrections and sanitation. The food is different (for me), as I am from S. Texas. The barbacoa was very sweet; it had a taste similar to Boston baked beans (that brown sugar taste), and the horchata lacked that deep, rich taste, as it was more cinnamon than anything. Overall, I will be back to try something else, but I'll probably ask for a sample of it first to see if I like it. But try it for yourself, as it's not bad for portion and value.

Food and customer service review Food: not Mexican. It is Mexican adjacent or “ish” but not Mexican, this is closer to tex mex but not tex mex, which is bland US version of Mexican. The rice is interesting. Not Spanish rice but not bad. Clean location Good flavor - pollo abada Fresh flour tortillas but they use margarine. This is 2022 and I thought we knew palm oil and Margarine were heart stoppers. Fresh looking pico Decent sauce flavors Music is Katy perry and soft pop. Service was great and quick! The plus Decor is funny and it looks like they went to a border town and grabbed. Few pics of things to copy and generic plates and mirrors you can get at the TJ border. tourists from Minnesota and Kansas will be impressed. Metro city dwellers will be sad. I highly recommend checking out the Mexican market near smiths. Now that’s a burrito and taco! Legit.

Very friendly staff, unique and colorful atmosphere. Perfect stop for a quick Mexican style meal. Large portions of freshly prepared ingredients. We ordered a grilled steak salad and a shredded chicken salad, large pieces of both, and both with all the ingredients, tasty. They line the aluminum tray with a flour tortilla, a nice touch instead of eating off the aluminum pan. We didn't eat them but you could. They have bottles of Tabasco, Cholula and a few others to spice up your dish.
