Oh, what to say. Well, let's start with the good. The coffee is really sensational. Love it. The food, terrific, really enjoyed it. The egg and cheese croissant is absolutely perfect! The service/treatment, pretty good...but...I dunno - room for improvement I suppose. With my age and difficulty with tinnitus, I found it challenging to hear because the music is a touch too loud, the acoustics of the location have too much reverb, and the baristas talk too fast for me to understand. That's their youth and my age. Is what it is. No one's fault really, but it would have been nice if they had a little more patience with me. Both times I've been in, I felt rushed and misunderstood. I was the one asking for cream in my Americano. When I saw them starting to pour in the half and half, I got a bit panicky and said I wanted cream. (half and half is not cream. it is half milk and half cream.) What commenced next was a passive-aggressive "judgy" fight in semantics with the owner. She insisted I wanted Heavy Whipping Cream, or rather she insisted I say those three words. Yes, that is cream. That is what I want, please. In the United States, that is what is sold as cream. To say, "cream," is enough. Why in the world she would want to argue with me to get me to say those three words is beyond my comprehension. Not a good start to my morning. Fast buzz kill. Anyway, rolling with it. Then my sandwich didn't come so I politely asked a server if she could check on it. She was very kind and helpful to do so. Didn't bother me that it hadn't come, I was in no hurry. But when it did arrive, it was the wrong sandwich. Again, no big deal, I was in no rush, I was happy to be there. But then, to my surprise, the owner herself brisked up to me with the correct sandwich crammed into a to-go container and I was curtly told to leave. Wow. Ok. I have no more words. Felt rude, judgemental, impatient, discriminatory, and mostly intolerant. All I wanted was cream in my coffee. Disappointing...
Read moreI write this 3-star review as a local that wants to see this business succeed. I have only been to Cupla once and I had the "I am not sure if I would go back" experience so I decided rather than "write off" the place...I would write this review....with hopes it encourages the restaurant to take their enterprise to a higher level. :-) 1- Coffee seems to be a cornerstone of their brand/ experience. Might I suggest they buy a simple thermometer and actually test the temperature of the coffee they serve in their nice ceramic mugs. My coffee was not hot at all and that was disappointing. I am sure they could adjust their machine to actually serve a nice hot cup of Joe. I wanted to send it back but A) I did not want to be "that guy" and B) I had to wait sooo long to receive it...I just decided to drink my luke-warm coffee and keep my mouth shut. 2- Many Parkites are health conscious when dining. I wanted something "healthy and hearty" and the person at the register really had no suggestions. Bummer...b/c many Park City people probably enjoy a healthy and hearty start to their day when choosing a place like Cupla for breakfast/ brunch. 3- I ended up ordering the salmon bagel. It was unremarkable...and served with a side of....wait for it...cheap tortilla chips. I am huge fan of salmon bagels and have ordered them for many years. But pairing them with cheap tortilla chips? It just seemed odd to me. 4- Fairly slow service. We were then when it was not too busy. Still took a good long time until food came out. See point (1) above and the not so warm coffee.
Bottom line- I WILL go back. I DO want this place to succeed. But they are making some very basic mistakes so I hope this 3 star review is interpreted as the way I have written it. My message is...DO BETTER- serve a nice HOT cup of coffee, offer some hearty and HEALTHY entree choices, and choose appropriate side items for your main entrees. I wish Cupla much success in the...
