I would not recommend ANY person of color to dine here. The whole experience I just had with my family was undoubtedly the worst time Iāve ever been publicly discriminated against. This establishment is extremely classists and racist.
My family and I were down in Park City for a annual family trip. We had planned to have a nice dinner at a higher end restaurant. We had high expectations coming to this restaurant. First off, the restaurant wasnāt as busy as one would think it would be. There were many tables that had enough room to seat 8 people. However, we were sat right by the station where the workers assemble cutlery and take transactions. Mind you there was a whole section empty right across from us. Second of all, either a manger or owner was tending to every single table but us. Funny enough, every table had white people dinning. He would serve the people their food once it came out. Not once did he ever seem to acknowledge us. After we ate, we were handed our check immediately. Wouldnāt one think that you would be handed a menu for desserts right after finishing your meal or even have been questioned if one wanted any? We saw other tables eating desserts and not once were we invited to see their personal selections. To top off the very unpleasant micro aggressions, we were verbally harassed by other patrons. They were passing by our table and made very snobby and snarky remarks about us. Saying that, why would someone dress up to a cheap restaurant. As well as saying, I should get dressed up to just use my bathroom and other things were said. The group was very vocal about their statements, one person willing talked in a loud manner so we could here itās obscene comments.
I donāt believe anyone should go through the whole ordeal my family was just placed in. I would expect a higher end restaurant to be more sensible and well rounded about social...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I came here for our anniversary during our weekend stay in Park City. Our first impression of this restaurant was not a good one. When we walked in, the hostess were all circled together behind their counter and when we got close they all stopped talking and just stared at us until I finally said, "For two please". They acted like I had just intruded on "their" time or interrupted their gossip session! After one of them scurried off to get a table ready for us, we almost left. We decided to stay and give it a shot since it was getting late.
After being frustrated with our service thus far, Jonathon our server redeemed the whole place! He was delightful, fast, and made us laugh. He was a joy to have as our server. We were there on a Thursday night when they have a $5 - $8 menu. My husband and I shared a pizza, soup, and salad. We would have ordered more, but we were full! Jon treated us to their apple pie and homemade gelato and it was excellent! I dream about about the vanilla goodness.
Also during dinner, we saw one or two of the hostess' that we "interrupted" walking by our table with their eyeballs glued to their phones..right in front of their customers!! I wish I would have seen their name tags.. but just a bunch of 20 something blonde girls. They made the atmosphere feel like I was at a high school hang out spot..
Between Jon and our food I would have given Ghidotti's an overwhelming 5 stars. However, our hostess' made the experience a three star.. such a shame. Hopefully there is coaching these girls on what customer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was great. Quite different than it used to be pre-covid, but we were still impressed by the service.
The food was very good. If you have a chance, try the scallops, they are fantastic. The calamari was good (not the best I've ever had, but that's an admittedly very high bar, and Ghidotti's is on a par with the second best, which is still pretty good.
Wine list was limited due to covid, so be sure to ask before you make your selection to avoid being disappointed.
There are two reasons that I don't feel comfortable giving it 5 stars. The first was the attitude of the hostess. She really didn't start off the night on the best tone. I will say that the server tried very hard to overcome that, but she really shouldn't have had to. The second reason is more the neighborhood, so perhaps it isn't entirely fair to dock the restaurant for this, but you should be aware of it if you are planning a special event here. The restaurant is across the street from Red Rock brewery, which tries hard to be a bar, including loud music, which penetrated into the restaurant. So if you are there on a weekend, or holiday, or some other event, the beautiful ambiance of this place (and the obvious care and attention that went into the design and building of the establishment), may...
