It’s been probably ten years since we’ve been to this restaurant since we had a horrible experience involving poor ingredients, poor service, and uncaring management. But since they are still there, we decided to give them another chance, and we’re glad we did! Based on how many people were there early on a Tuesday night, and our own experiences, they certainly corrected the problems we encountered.
The basics are mostly the same as the chain is what it is. When you come it, you are greeted at the host desk and are escorted to your table by someone who picks up warm rolls from the kitchen and brings them to the table with you. The rolls are soft, fluffy, and sweet, and they add a container of sweet cinnamon butter to spread on them, if you so desire. We had hardly sat down before our waitress showed up – which was interesting since the place was almost packed! – and asked us for our drink order. Commendable, but too early as we had not yet found the menus.
A few minutes later, we had our water, orders ready and she checked back in. I asked about their peanuts and she immediately brought over a couple of bags of them along with a paper-lined plastic basket for the shells. I guess the days of the big tubs of peanuts and shells thrown on the floor went away with COVID. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not…
While the ordering process was quick, it did take some time for the food to arrive, but we were not surprised as the place was full of customers, and we say people leaving with takeout bags and hostesses seating more customers all the time. As soon as the food arrived, so did one of the managers to ask how things are going. Again, a bit too early as we had not tasted anything yet.
So, how did it all taste? Very buttery and sweet. Take a look at the photos. The Honey Mustard dressing is good, and on the sweet side of that type of salad dressing. The salad components are good. There is more than just one slice of tomato and also crumbled hard boiled eggs and more. The Salmon plate had butter sloshing all over the plate, and was cooked perfectly. The broccoli was swimming in buttered water. The buttered corn – it was buttered all right and tasted great. The smothered chicken had sauteed mushrooms and onions which were well flavored. This was probably the only dish that was not swimming in butter and was very tasty. The gravy came in a separate bowl, so I could put on as much as I wanted.
One thing they appeared to have discontinued is the dancing act as during our visit they never had it. The radio was playing too loud so everyone was talking above it which meant it was a bit too loud to be pleasant.
Overall, the food was tasty. It was very buttery and on the sweet side, but given their success, that is probably what the clientele is looking for so I cannot fault them for it. Our tab included some alcohol and came to just about $20 per person which is very...
Read moreWent with two other couples for Valentine's Day meal. We have been to TR at various locations, usually very happy with service and food. Not tonight. My husband always gets the 16 oz prime rib, he doesn't even have to look at the menu, that's his favorite and his go to meal at TR. Me? BBQ chicken and sirloin combo w baked potato. Always. We were seated at 5, waited a little longer than usual for apps. Ordered. Got through salads. Waited some more. Waitress come back and tells hubby that they can't do a 16 oz cut, only in 12oz. And something about only in medium. Whatever. So then she comes back out and says some kind of mix up and that they are actually out of prime rib now completely. What? For a 5pm seating on Valentine's day? Really? So he ordered a ribeye. Out comes the saddest looking ribeye. And they included the au jus sauce with it? To rub it in? My chicken was ok, doused in a little too much bbq sauce than normal, but the sirloin was tough! I mean like hardly can cut through tough. Ugh. So the manager, asks how things are, I tell her. And tell her shame on them for not preparing for what they know is a big seller, prime rib on Valentines. Anything? Nope. Sorry. Not even an offer of a little off the bill. The waitress had to go to her to take something off. Washington, PA, TR needs to get it's...
Read moreWell I took my wife here for her birthday lunch and it was the worst time ever here. First they sat us in a Corner booth with a ac vint directly above us blowing cold air. Yes I know it's summer and all but the cold air had us all uncomfortable. I asked the waitress to turn it down. And nothing was done. So other than keeping my beer cold it had my appetizer cold fast as well. Then we get our meals and the steak my wife ordered was burnt and she ordered a medium steak. So as we sat there cold and aggravated. We ask for the steak to be replaced with what she my wife had ordered. But the cold air got to my wife and was ready to leave. The thing that made me mad is. They put us at that table my complaint was not taken in to consideration. And the manager failed to come to our table. The waitress did a good job, but the rest was horrible. On top of it all they sat us at a table we was not happy with, with a plak that said we put our customers first and we serve steak. Well needless to say they lied on everything they stand for. If I had that company that manager would be looking for a new job none the less wrote up for not putting the...
