I came here for the first time and immediately noticed the place was a mess. Dirty tables, dirty floors, chairs blocking pathways to tables because they weren't pushed in. There was just two customers there, sitting together, which made me wonder why it was so messy. I kinda wanted to walk back out but I didn't want to be rude so I ordered an everything bagel to eat there and a pastry to go. The staff was friendly but everything else was lacking. My bagel was so, so, soooooo salty. I got it with veggie cream cheese which was good but I just couldn't. I normally like a lot of salt but this was terrible. I hate to say it, but the pastry was just as bad, I took two bites and spit them both out in a napkin. It tasted like raw flour or something, I can't describe it. The ambiance was that of a 1996 old and tired café. Empty tacks and nails in the scuffed walls, pictures that don't match the store, hanging unevenly, Christmas decorations still up in February and a wall of $15-20 dollar mugs that looks like old inventory that will collect dust and never sell. I think this place may be hanging on by a thread to be honest. That makes me sad because I know it's how someone pays their bills. I recommend getting someone in there to paint the walls, change out the hanging lamp shades, rip out that nasty carpet, add a few plants, play some café music and reduce the menu so you guys can focus on making better food vs offering such a wide...
Read moreOn 6/24/24 at 4:25pm I went here with my mom while out running a few errands. First off let's start with the ridiculously Slloooowwww service.. and we were literally the only people in there. The young lady working there was extremely slow with taking the order... and as if that's not enough she clearly wasn't paying attention to what she was doing because we had to repeat the order a couple of times. And she still didn't get it right. We clearly asked if the sandwiches were toasted or warmed and she said toasted. Well let's start here. My sandwich definitely was not toasted. It was warmed up. My mom didn't want hers toasted and it was. I got the corned beef Reuben and at 12 bucks I was highly disappointed! The sandwich was the smallest thing I've ever seen. My moms was ok other than being toasted. It's a good thing we got a couple of bagels too because my sandwich was so small I needed the bagel. The pickles were surprisingly good. However the attitude and slow service along with the sub par portion it was definitely not worth the 40 bucks I spent on 2 sandwiches and 2 bagels. Needless to say I will not be returning to this location ever again. I would have been better off going to McDonalds and thats not saying much. So if your in the plaza on pleasant valley road and get hungry.. do yourself a favor and literally go anywhere else.. I recommend Jersey Mike's. Lol.. but stay away from between rounds. Highly...
Read moreBetween Rounds makes a damn good everything bagel, especially if you like them kind of salty. I’m really writing this review though because of one employee here, not sure her name but she has a bit of an accent and is usually wearing a beret or scarf on her head. Not only is she friendly, she also asks the customer questions while she’s preparing their food, like if the bagels are toasted to their satisfaction, or double checking to make sure she has the right cheese choice, etc. All of the employees that I’ve interacted with here are so nice and clearly care about doing their job well, but I just wanted to shout out this lady in particular.
Some of the other reviews mention long wait times. I usually come during off-peak hours (am not a morning person) so I can’t really attest to that, though when it is really busy and I’m there, I don’t think it’s a crazy amount of time for the food to come out. Maybe I have more patience than someone in a rush for work. The price is fine, maybe a little much, but I enjoy supporting a small business, and am always happy with my food. They do have a great rewards program if you like to buy bagels by the dozen.
I’m moving to a bigger city soon, and will have more, and honestly probably better, bagel options in my life. But Between Rounds will always hold a place in my heart, and I’m happy to have been a regular for the past...
