Decided to try this place out since Simply Thai was not available on any food delivery service. As someone that was raised in a Laotian household and had the pleasure of enjoying authentic meals from various Thai restaurants throughout Connecticut, this is simply the worst experience I ever had. I try my best to support local businesses especially ones that resonate with my background, but Sawadee just missed the mark. I ordered two lunch specials, drunken noodles with tofu and red curry for me and my girlfriend. They were both priced at $10 which is what I expected to pay from past experiences. However, one would expect to receive a full portion size for that price, but this was not the case. To my surprise, I opened up the container of drunken noodles to see that only half of the container was filled. Not only did the drunken noodles fall flat, but the red curry was packaged in a 12 oz (1 pint = 16 oz) container with a half pint of white rice. I understand that lunch specials come in a slightly smaller portion as compared to a dinner size, but this is just unacceptable. The two cups of soup that came on the side of our dishes were cold, I understand that many restaurants prepare some dishes in advance, but they did not even bother to warm those up for their customers. My recommendation to any prospective diners is to avoid this restaurant. Please visit other Thai restaurants in the surrounding area (Simply Thai or Sukhothai) and I promise you will leave with a better experience than you would at Sawadee...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Sawadee Thai Restuarnt last weekend, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a great meal.
We started with the coconut soup, which was absolutely delightful ā creamy, fragrant, and packed with flavor. I also tried the lavender boba tea, and it was such a refreshing and unique drink; the lavender notes added a lovely floral touch without being overpowering.
For the main courses, I ordered the macadamia beef, which was phenomenal. The beef was tender, and the dish was perfectly seasoned, with the macadamia adding a delightful crunch. My husband ordered the Pad Thai beef noodles, and he loved it! The noodles were cooked to perfection, with a balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors that made it truly authentic.
Overall, The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was attentive, and we canāt wait to go back. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving amazing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service was wonderful. The traditional tea was also so good. The restaurant was beautiful, clean, inviting. I enjoyed doing the crossword and having a warm cup of tea.
That's really where it ended though. The drunken noodles were bland. They also were not very broad noodles. They were a slightly broader than a standard fettuccine. They didn't have that nice, wok seared flavor. They lacked fish sauce umami goodness & were too sweet.
The spring rolls were just ice berg lettuce and some bland tofu. No herbs, no flavor. The wrapping was thin and the peanut sauce was too thick & sweet.
I was really disappointed esp since the food looked ok... I was hoping for lots of authentic Thai flavor. I would say this is a good spot if you like a mild, more Americanized Thai...
