About 2 weeks ago I came to costco to get a few items and pick up my glasses. I haven’t had many issues with anyone checking my card, or following me around, but today was a completely different story. When my family and I walked in, we were greeted with the new scanners. After our card was scanned, they told us since the member isn’t present with us we are not allowed inside. As long as a member is present with you, you can proceed inside. We asked if we could call them to verify that they we are buying items for our household, but they said that would not work. Afterwards, we stepped aside near the sliding doors main entrance, trying to figure out what we would do since we had items to urgently purchase. A few members of our community were walking by, and we asked if it was okay to go in with them and they said that they had no issue accompanying us inside. However, one of the greeters had called their manager, Laura, over. In the beginning she had just asked the group of us if we need help signing up for a membership. We said no, thank you. The people we were with scanned their card, and we proceeded inside together as a group. I overheard the manager discussing if we weren’t going to be with the card owner the whole time it may be an issue to her co-workers. From the entrance, all the way until we payed for our items and were about to exit the store, the manager Laura followed us around the store. Finally, as we are walking past the food court, my mother says to her sternly “Why are you following us around the store?! Did I do something wrong?” The manager Laura proceeded to lie and say that she wasn’t following us, and this had my mother rightfully upset. After back a back and forth argument and my mother exiting the store, I confronted Laura and asked her why lie and say you weren’t following us around, when you have been from the beginning. You’re making us look stupid for calling you out when you know it’s true? I told her if it’s just protocol then say because of the situation I have to follow you around blah blah. After I mentioned this, she changed her story to she was just doing her job, and she’s not the one yelling or causing a scene right now (as if our anger is not justified because you’ve been following us around since we step foot on the premises??).
As a young black teen in America already being seen as suspicious for the color of my skin, for you to follow us around the whole knowing how it is for black people and to be ignorant to that matter, how could you be aware of these things and still treat us like this? Laura needs better...
Read moreI don't often voice my opinions or experiences online however my Mother has lost sleep and we remain baffled in regards to our latest trip to Costco yesterday morning. Upon approaching to pay my mother handed me her card and USD as I was closer to the panel. Suddenly we were told curtly and repeatedly by the woman at the register who until that day had always been pleasant and kind - "I can't take your money" refusing the payment stating that only members could buy things. I inquired wether she had to see my Mother -who's membership it is... physically Hand me the funds as she had done moments ago? As I have no funds of my own, wether it was new store policy, She repeated herself and locked stern gaze with me stating that it was on a sign at the entrance. I thanked her for the info and after enough time passed without logical alternative the payment was awkwardly received, we went on our way unsettled. The words on the sign located at the entrance states -members may purchase merchandise as general rules state "Only Costco members may purchase items" , where can I find the rule stating that handing funds to place in hand of the indicated employee as a paid active member who is physically present is prohibited? My Mother and I couldn't help but feel discriminated against as in all of the years as customers we have not previously witnessed anyone else be addressed long enough to cause delay in the queue much less been called to attention in such manner ourselves. Wondering perhaps if it was some other identifying characteristic that prompted what felt like a warning needed to be issued Or perhaps this is the way Costco will be treating it's customers in 2025. Next time we go shopping our local Costco will no longer be first...
Read moreThank goodness for the South Windsor store. It is great! Several ways of exiting or entering the store and the parking lot. The lighting is bright in the parking lot...⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you for building this store in South Wi dless stressful and the flow of traffic with such ease. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Enfield, CT Store... 👎👎 👎 Honestly one big headache and a nightmare!!! The parking lot and Gas pumps, Several Pedestrian Dangers ALL OVER THE PLACE. Ugh! The Exiting and Entrancing is absolutely ridiculous in the parking lot and going in and out of the store. The area where the Customer service desk... it is in a lousy area... not enough room to have people to wait in line. Plus if it's cold out or hot the doors are very close to the entrance. I always dreaded going to that store... Maybe it's time to do an Extreme Makeover! Yes a Serious overhaul needs to be done to fix all of these concerns and problems. I know I can't be the only one who feels this way. It is just NOT SAFE and Truthfully, NOT Consumer or shopper friendly at all.
NOTE: Consider having someone from The Corporate Office come for a week to observe this particular store in Enfield, CT and take a moment to consider feedback of all the negative idiosyncrasies Take the time to improve the functionality of it! Please ... DO something!!! 🤨😬
SUGGESTION: I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO ON THE "UNDERCOVER BOSS" TV SHOW!!! 🥸 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ 🤣
OK, That's it... Drop the Microphone... 🎤 Thank you GOODNESS FOR GOOGLE REVIEW TO...
