The “shift lead”, Darren, was extremely rude. It all started when I had a coupon, and as soon as I told him he sighed heavily. I started the order by ordering a steak number 9, not realizing that when you say no onions they just change it to a steak and cheese and add the peppers and mushrooms, well Darren was very rude in his tone when correcting me. I forgot to ask for jalapeños when placing the order, I didn’t even finish ordering the rest of my sandwiches before realizing so before finishing the order I tried to ask him if he could add jalapeños to my order and he told me to “hold on a minute”, then I tried telling him before I paid that I wanted the jalapeños on my sandwich and he told me that I needed to tell him everything I wanted on my sandwich all at once and that he “trains” his customers to do that so it is easier for him. I made a simple mistake of forgetting to add something to my sandwich so I tried to do it at the end and the attitude I received was atrocious. Once I got home my sandwich had onions on it. I won’t be coming here when this guy is...
Read moreMy first time coming to a DeAngelo after heavy recommending from friends who go to Mass for here and Gio or Geno’s..and always craving a cheesesteak sandwich. Service - woman behind the counter was friendly with the greeting and the guy who did the cooking was excellent. There were a few people here so can’t really judge when it was during a rush. Food - Got the Steak Number 9..and did it as the 1lb…basically same as a Philly cheesesteak..with the cheese, mushrooms, pepper, onions. It was phenomenal and out of all the places that I’ve been searching, this is the closest to a genuine cheesesteak that I’ve found…other than Charlie’s but who wants to fight traffic between 5-6pm? Overall - I’ll rate this place a 4.4 on a 5 scale and around a 8.9 on a 10. I’ll come back for sure. (It looks small in the picture because I took it at the store and didn’t want to hold him up as he was making other...
Read moreI usually enjoy coming to this D’Angelo’s in Southington, but something happened on 9/25/25 that really hurt me and my partner. I am transgender, and while I was waiting to order, one of the employees — an older, fat white man who I’ve seen here many times and believe is a manager — looked right at me and muttered “disgusting” under his breath. Both my partner and I heard it clearly.
I already filed a formal complaint with the company, but I feel people should know what happened. It was disrespectful, humiliating, and completely uncalled for. No one should be treated this way, especially by someone who seems to be in a position of authority.
This man is often grumpy with customers, but this went beyond rudeness — it was discriminatory. D’Angelo’s should be a place where everyone feels welcome, not singled out and...
