So let me get this out there to start, I have been a fan of chuys and their food until today. The service at this Southlake location has honestly made it where I never want to go to another chuys again.
We we're sat first available -- on the patio no big deal about 5 minutes after seating some waiter walked past us slammed a thing of chips on our table and walked away... No salsa no hello. At about 10 min still no word from an employee so I asked to be reseated inside, thinking it would make for better service.
Here we had to wait well over 5 min for our new waitress to even show up, We ordered drinks and queso and it took easily another 10 min for queso--something pre made to be scooped into a bowl. It came out with the top cooked from sitting under that heater in the kitchen. We ordered and our food was brought out by a runner my plate was so hot from sitting that heater the lettuce holding the pico was wilted and black around the edges. My boyfriend's fish tacos had the same wilted condition of veggies on the plate and his fish in the tacos were overcooked as well. At this point we have not seen our waitress for over 25 minutes.
Then the manager who was cleaning tables noticed we weren't eating because I asked for my sauce to be on the side-- it didn't come with my meal. Had to ask him, and that again took way too long to bring a scoop of premade sauce in a bowl. At 35 minutes we finally saw our waitress for the first time since our food order.
I've worked in the food industry long enough to know the differences between someone having a bad night and being in the weeds, being able to notice signs of the kitchen being behind and knowing when the front of the house needs to be replaced from top down. This location falls into hat final category. Way to many empty tables for there to be a wait or have such...
Read moreChuy's food is Chuy's food. It's decent and I know what to expect. I went here with my two young children and another couple and their two young children. We waited over an hour after our order was placed for our food to come out-- in different phases. People without grilled chicken got their meal after an hour-- people in my group with grilled chicken had to wait another 10 minutes. Annoying that we had to wait so long with no updates on ETA but whatevs it was a weekend waits happen... and sometimes different food is ready at different times, but the experience got worse from there.
I ordered my 3 year old a mini burrito (more expensive than the kids meal) after the waitress explained the kid's burrito was tiny. I asked for a steak mini burrito with just rice, cheese and guac. I paid extra to add quac (as expected)-- I think $2 which is fine. When my child's burrito came-- it had sour cream in it and no quac inside or on the side. I bisected the burrito to make sure. When I told the waitress she went back to the kitchen then came back to my table and said "the chefs are sure they put guac in there." and I said "I am sure they did not." The waitress legit stood over me and my child while I unwrapped the burrito to show her the lack of $2 guacamole. My group's meal was around $150 and this lady thought I was trying to cheat her over $2 of guac. After I showed her the guac free burrito she went back in the kitchen to get me a thimble full of guac. And delivered it saying "the chefs were just really sure they put it in." Bad service. Bad experience. Wondering if it was because my party had young children and minorities. I tipped the waitress properly because kids are messy and maybe the chefs are such jerks they really asked her to perform a good inspection of my child's plate, but I will...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend have been coming to this Chuys for over 2 years. It’s one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always good and the service is normally good. We went for dinner tonight around 4 and we were excited to order some margaritas with our food. We are both of age of course, we’re 22. Our waiter was nice he seemed a little awkward but the service was still fine. He asked us if we wanted to order any margaritas or beer and we said yes. Plus it was happy hour. We order our margaritas, he asks for our Id’s which of course we show him. He takes both of our Id’s and then tells us he’s not from around here and that he needs to go check and make sure our Id’s checkout. Understandable, again me and my boyfriend are 22. He takes our Id’s, maybe 5 minutes go by and we’re wondering what’s up and why he didn’t bring them back to us. Then a lady comes up to our table, I’m assuming she’s a manager, and she tells us that she’s “never seen Id’s that look like this before” and she couldn’t verify mine so they were unable to serve us.🤨 I have never been refused service because Of my ID. I go out to bars and clubs and I have never had any problems. Me and my boyfriends ID’s are the new Texas ones and they’re also vertical not horizontal because we got them renewed before we turned 21 but they are still valid despite them being vertical. I get it’s not that big of deal it’s just a margarita but you know you’re looking forward to going to your favorite Mexican restaurant and ordering some margs and chips and queso and then getting refused over a weird reason. I’ve definitely ordered a margarita here before with no issue. I don’t know if they’re under new management or something but probably will not be coming back to...
