If you want to minimalize the chances of getting sick while taking the gamble of takeout food, this is not the place. Try another Torchy's.
Love Torchy's. Love em. But not so much this one. The quality of the food probably deserves a third (and maybe a half) star, but the fact that in order to get my online ordered food, I had to wade through of a cesspool of people - none of which were maintaining any semblance of social distancing or other sanitary practices.
Sure, there were stickers on the floor and walls encouraging people to be smart and keep their distance, but every table was full (with barely any space between the backs of people in chairs) and the eat-in line was packed like a sardine can. People were barely six inches apart. Forget about six feet. The line to wait to get my food was right in the way of the trashcan and cut through the middle of the restaurant. This means that every customer that came in or left, wanted to throw their trash away, or even just walk to a table had to literally rub shoulders with me. And the crazy thing is, not a single person cared. They just pushed right past.
When I opened the door and saw the knocked over anthill that was the inside of the restaurant, I almost called to cancel my order. I should have. The employees were nice, and they all had masks on, but the complete lack of enforcing any kind of safe environment beyond that makes me want to never eat here again. I'd rather go somewhere that cares. Because if they don't care about something as important as this, who knows what other safety precautions in the kitchen are being ignored as well.
Obviously, those other customers don't care about the...

The girls at the counter did not appear to place customers first. I noticed several times that they would chat with each other and ignore that they had several customers waiting. AFTER placing our order, we were informed the wait would be approx 20-30 mins. Once we got to our table, we had to ask someone to come wipe it down for us as it had food all over it. We ordered chips & guac, which came out relatively quick while we waited for our tacos. We knew we wanted to order dessert on the way out, but rather than waiting again, we placed an order online with a 25 min wait. Our online order was ready on time. However, our food do not come for another 15 mins -- ONE HOUR AFTER WE ORDERED. I could see other customers getting upset about the wait as well.)
This was our first time ever visiting a Torchy's and we don't live in the area. If I did live in the area, I'm not sure I would ever go back. Being from out of town I can say for certain I will not be coming back to this location. Management at the Fort Worth location on Southlake needs a serious check. Having worked in fast paced and high volume food service myself, the way things are run here are very subpar. Do not tell your customers the wait is only 25 mins when this is a complete lie. It's better to be honest and have them walk away, than to lie, make them wait, and choose to never return and not recommend you either. If you plan on eating here, know what you're...
Read moreLate Saturday night. Heading to Roanoke from DFW. Looking for a good place to eat and found Torchy's tacos!
I'm excited because I want one more meal of tacos before I fly back home.
Place was clean, the service was friendly, and there was no question that everyone was closing up shop for the night. I get it. It's Saturday night. And you want to go home. But unfortunately, the food was not its highest quality.
It's such a shame because flavors were absolutely delicious. I ordered the chips in queso which was recommended by the guy at the register. He said it was the best queso he's ever had. And the flavor may have actually been the best queso I've ever had. Unfortunately, it was cold. I politely asked that they heated up, even putting it into a microwave was OK. The guy from the kitchen came back a minute later and gave me a brand-new queso. Hooray? Not so much. It was exactly the same cold temperature. What a bummer.
For the tacos themselves the Carnitas were pretty good, and the mad cow which was suggested by the worker was fantastic. The flavor of the meat itself was absolutely amazing. But again, I could tell that it was late night and it wasn't it's freshest.
I think this review could've been five stars because the restaurant was cool and the flavors were fantastic, but when you're open you need to be on all the time. That was not the case...
