This was my first time to go to FR8yard in Spartanburg. Some friends told me about it, so we decided to check it out that weekend. It’s located in the heart of downtown Spartanburg in a very cool area that has been fixed up with lots of trendy shops and eats. The wow factor is that this whole thing is in a courtyard area with the bar, restrooms, elevated patio all made from shipping containers and has an interesting cool vibe. There’s a HUGE projection screen for catching the game, or for movie night with the elevated patio having a stadium seating. FR8 Yard has lots of beer choices and a selection of good cocktails as well. The food seemed like standard faire but with a neat twist (like the Rueben is on a hot dog bun with the corned beef inside a sausage). At 2:00 PM a live band started and were really, really good. I wish I could’ve stayed longer to listen more, but was on a tight deadline. The only downfall to this place is there is very little shade when the sun is beating down on you – make sure you have sunscreen. Looking forward to checking it out again in the future.

3/28/2023 update. SMACK in the middle of Spartanburg Criterion! Perfect location. This place is very popular--- and it is no doubt why. Good beverages. Very good bar food. Some kind of music playing live. Big honkin' TV. Great vibe. Love the place. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great outdoor place to listen to live music or watch big screen TV. Today (11/26/2022) was a BIG college football and World Cup day. Several games on and the WC too. Very good bar food! Smack downtown Spartanburg and wedged between two buildings --- and below street level --- so that helps keep the wind a bay. Great vibe there! Heaters and firepits keep the place cozy. Service is fast and friendly! Card only --- so leave your cash at home --- unless you tip in cash. šŸ˜‰

Last minute decision turned out to be the best one of the night. We had planned to meet at Wild Wings to celebrate with a co-worker who was leaving the country, instead we ended up here at the Fr8 Yard. It’s a outside bar, you can bring you dogs too, if you like. Drinks were tasty and cold, food was great ( just look at that size of the pretzel!) . Staff was very nice! It was on a Friday night with a live band( they were good) the best part-did I mention the dogs? So many well behaved fur-babies. This guy finally decided to spend some time with us, laying down to take a nap while his owners were close by- what a sweet heart he was! We were delighted to be befriended by him.. such a friendly little guy.

I rarely get the opportunity to go out due to some chronic illnesses~ but it was the first evening of Spring Fling, 2 of my favorite local bands were out playing, and I was feeling decent... First stop was the fr8yard. I’m now regretting this decision with every fiber of my being because of the way that I was treated by an employee and the 2 owners there, on this particular night.. As I attempted to resolve an issue with an employee working a register I tried approaching one owner and was told (by him)- that he was too intoxicated to help me 😳so he passed me off to another owner. The next owner then proceeded to tell me to ā€œwalk for himā€!?!?! Seriously?? Am I performing for you?! Or are you just a creep whose ownership has gone to your head?!?! This was ALL due to trying to order my 2nd drink of the evening (bc mine had been spilled by some children playing in the area)… No worries... Well usually not~ But not this night. I’ve worked in the F&B industry for most of my life- as well as, owned and operated a local restaurant. I would Never treat a valuable and paying guest the way that I was treated. And unfortunately that’s exactly what they lost that night. A valuable and paying guest. Who also happens to be a very generous tipper… It’s too bad (1- bc I know the 1st owner, personally. And 2 bc there aren’t too many outdoor venues for music in Spartanburg). I love getting a chance to go see live music, when I’m able… and there’s a zero % chance I will ever return here again. 0 āļøā€™s would’ve been my choice of rating but it...

I’m just trying to figure out what’s up with this place. You can’t order online and no one answers the phone. What is going on? If y’all don’t do phone orders why not post that on your website? Same with the take out thingy. It doesn’t work so just remove it and stop confusing customers. Also, if y’all are close due to weather (very understandable) than take a minute to show that on your website or on google. Imagine trying to eat here and you look online, says it’s open. You try to order online through their own website that has a ā€œorder hereā€ button and then it doesn’t work. You try to call and no one answers the phone. You show up and it’s closed. Like what the hell?

Edit: hey, I really appreciate the response. Didn’t mean to sound like a Karen or anything, I was just REALLY wanting a double burger and I know there’s nothing that was going to satisfy that craving. And I definitely understand, again, was just hangry at the moment. I know google can be a pain sometimes. Don’t worry about it,...
