AK Asian Restaurant — Restaurant in Spokane Valley

AK Asian restaurant is Spokane. If you know our history, Spokane has always had a heavy Chinese influence from the dark days of the railroad. There's not a city the size of Spokane that has more Chinese and Asian restaurants, and with so much competition, it takes something special to stand out. Brooke was that someone special. The food was great, I had the #12 and my wife had the #7, but our server Brooke made our dinner special. Thanks for your hard work and dedication. Okay, to the food. I rarely ever give food a 5 star, that's reserved for a food experience that's phenomenal. But the food was great and very plentiful. Oh, to the few reviewers who have complained about the flavor profile, you are accustomed to americanized Chinese food, authentic Chinese can be different from what you're used to. It's not the food, it's you. What can I say about the atmosphere? For starters, when we came inside, there were six food delivery people waiting to pick up. That tells me a lot about quality. Secondly, they were playing country music! Now come on, that's totally Spokane. In closing, I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a taste for authentic Chinese food. Oh, they also have probably the best kids menu I've seen in a Chinese restaurant. It's the hole-in-the-wall feel of a small local eatery but with a menu of options that you'd find in larger places with the skills to pull it...

When we arrived we were not greeted and we were seated in the corner. The lady gave us water without straws, and didn't get us any drinks or any attention to our table. The family that came in after us was seated and greeted and served all of their drinks before we even got our drinks. We were not given menus until late last minute, and it took the lady 10 to 15 minutes to get us drinks. We were ignored the entire time and while we were sitting at the table, we heard fighting and yelling and cursing in the kitchen with a kid 20 ft away from the kitchen. This is not how a professional restaurant is ran. When we were ready to leave, the lady that served us had an attitude the entire time. She gave us the bill and we went up front and she was looking at the screen intently and looked like she wanted us to give her a tip when she realized the tip was only a 1.17. She stormed off with an attitude. If I could give this rating less than one I would, we have been there before but not sat down in the restaurant itself and this was an absolute terrible experience and we will never go back not even to have...

My boyfriend and I ordered food for pickup and I was kind of concerned how quickly the order was ready, and then concerned because there weren't many customers in the restaurant. Thankfully, my first instincts were completely off.

The restaurant is a cute little place that felt very inviting with a touch of nostalgia. The food was delicious, the portions were good especially for the cost, and everything was hot and tasted fresh. My favorite part was the egg foo young. Also, weird compliment but I'm happy there were actually almonds on my almond fried chicken. Since moving to Spokane Valley I've been looking for good Chinese food and this is my new favorite spot. Hopefully AK's is consistent because I will definitely be coming here again the next time I need my Chinese food fix. *Special Kudos to the hostess/waitress who was there tonight because she was really nice.
