8.10.25: Finally had a chance to check out this place. It was a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't very busy when we walked in. Nice, big clean space and not cluttered. My friend is into Philly Cheesesteaks and I wanted to try the veggie rice bowl.
So at the ordering counter, there's a bell to ring for help or to ask questions. With that said, it's a DIY kiosk tablet that was pretty simple and user friendly. My friend got a traditional Philly Ribeye Cheesesteak with extra cheese and an order of cheese fries. I got the veggie rice bowl with all the veggies offered except for jalapenos. I choose 2 sauce options: soy aioli and gochujang. I also got a side order of fries.
My veggie bowl arrived hot and steamy and had a pretty good flavor profile considering I chose 2 sauces. Rice to veggies was proportionate and the portion itself was worth the value too. If there's any suggestion, it would be to use a different rice or add a little water to it throughout the day as it's on the warmer so it doesn't dry out as fast. I'm a bit weird and like my veggies slightly undercooked and will ask for that next time. Overall, I enjoyed the veggie rice bowl. Now, the fries were amazing! Great crisp, tender inside, and best of all it had this texture I only come across sometimes. I tried to take a pic to capture what I mean. But ikyk! My friend, at first glance of his Philly, wondered where all the cheese was since he ordered extra cheese. Well, it's safe to say it was nicely folded into the meat because after taking a few bites, he said it really liked it and that it was definitely cheesy. He got 2 different cheeses and said next time he will order extra peppers. He also made mention of the bread used and how he liked it and that the bread used could make or break the sandwich. In the end, he wished he ordered another sandwich to-go for later lol. The cheese fries were SUPER CHEESY so if you're into that, definitely order it.
There was only 1 gentleman working, cooking, and cleaning. I want to guess he was the owner. He was really friendly and helpful and cooked us up a great lunch. On a sidenote, bathrooms need a code and the women's was...
Read moreI ordered the closest I could get to a pure Philly cheesesteak. Whiz is available! It's a very good sandwich but not quite reminiscent of a Philadelphia made sandwich - I think because they don't have Amoroso rolls.
The cheese fries are also really good and to be honest, much better than what a "real" Philly cheesesteak place would serve.
Of course the distinguishing mark of this establishment is the Korean twists that can be ordered. I didn't get a chance to try these but will when I visit again.
Consider it a Philly\Korean fusion, with the "straight" Philly sandwich being very worthwhile but not quite the same as a place like Boos in LA or Calozzi's in Seattle which do fully capture the Philadelphia made experience.
Update - I recall a big factor where Phillycious' base cheesesteak is different than the traditional ones - the Philly-style sandwiches are much more moist (the vendors would say juicy, others might say oily or greasy.)
Phillycious sandwiches are not as moist\greasy, so if you like a sandwich less soggy and messy to eat than a traditional Philly then Phillycious would be especially to your taste.
With a less soggy sandwich, an Amoroso roll isnt as important as those rolls hold up better with moist fillings.
I repeat though that I was very happy with the cheesesteak. And again - Phillycious...
Read moreOur first time. There were a couple of customers aside from us but they'd left by the time we finished ordering so we had the place to ourselves. The setup is a little different, which I liked but I could see how it could slow folks down if theyre not used to technology. At the counter, 2 tablets are mounted for the customers to order and customize their meals and then you pay via the tablet. They give you a cup if your ordered a fountain drink or they have bottled drinks as well. No Dr. Pepper but Pibb Xtra worked fine. I wasn't very fond of the seating which was comprised of stainless steel tables and chairs, which were cold and felt a little cheap BUT in no way is it a dealbreaker for me lol. The ONLY annoyance was a loud noise maybe caused by a bad speaker or a failing compressor? Again, no biggie. They call your name when the order is ready, which is nice. Yall, this was like fair food! Absolutely perfect and soooooooo delicious!!! I had the build your own fries with Korean BBQ bulgogi, mushrooms, zucchini, ranch and extra cheese and it was incredible! Partner had a Philly and couldn't get over how good it was. The regular fries were hella good and we got extra to take home. We will absolutely be back and definitely recommend! The chef was super kind too so we really enjoyed...
