I can't begin to explain how disappointed I am with our purchase of a new solid surface countertop. My wife and I went to home Depot to shop for a countertop for the kitchen. We went to the pro desk to speak to a professional. we looked at all the samples and found one that we liked. My wife and I both agreed on one thing, we didn't want any movement, veining, color variation. We wanted a uniform looking surface. White with some grays and some sparkle in it. The professional that helped usended up telling us that the sample we liked didn't have any movement, color variation, veining. Trusting him, we signed up and purchased the countertop in that specific material. We were very excited to get it installed. The day came. The truck showed up at our house with our brand new countertop. The installers swiftly carried in and laid down our new countertop. I looked at it with confusion, there was a vein that ran right through the middle of the island, and another vein that ran right down the edge of the stove top. I was confused, I thought this material wasn't supposed to have any movement. I immediately called home Depot and talked to Jackie, the manager of the countertop area. After months of going back and forth with her, being difficult to reach, she came back with a proposal. It was to replace the island only. And I would still have to cover half the cost of that. I was quoted at another $300 on top of what we had already spent. There are two things I'm disappointed with. The first, we were lied to. The first professional that helped us either didn't know that this material had movement, or flat out lied that it didn't have movement. Either way, at this point we had spent $3,000 on a countertop we didn't like. No going back, no refunds. The second thing I was disappointed with, was the handling of this unfortunate mistake. Instead of offering a replacement, I understand that would be a lot to do. Or, offering a gift card to make us somewhat happy. Or, replace the island for free. no, the only thing that they came up with was to have us pay more to have the island replaced. What would I have liked? I guess looking back, I would have liked a gift card, not cash, not a refund, just a gift card. Given it would have to be some substantial amount of money. Maybe $500 or so. my wife and I every time we walk in the kitchen look at the veining and shake our heads in disgust. We are still unhappy. I stopped talking to Jackie because I realized this was going nowhere. if they want to get ahold of me again, they have my number. as far as the insulation company, River City solid surfaces, they did a fantastic job. Installation was smooth, no hiccups. I actually decided to do a little bit of research after it had been installed. I showed up at their showroom, without them knowing who I was, and just asked about "Edessa" (The solid surface we had installed). The first thing out of the sales lady's mouth was " edessa is one of our best-selling movement surfaces". That was it, the first thing they said was that it had movement. How come home Depot didn't say the same thing? I'll never know. The first professional that helped us some sold us the countertop stopped working there a week after I ordered the countertop. Would I recommend getting a countertop at home Depot? Only if you're selling the house. They don't know what they're talking about with The solid surface is that they sell. They don't know if they have movement or not. And they won't try to make you happy after they...
Read moreI am copying this post from Facebook so everyone can read this review and contact corporate. Is this really how you treat people and especially veterans, I don’t think so!
So I am at Home Depot today and the older gentleman in front of me shows his ID for a veterans discount. The clerk tells him he does not qualify for a discount so the gentleman asked to see a manager. They ask me to go to another line because this may take a few minutes. I tell them no thanks I want to hear this. So a young cocky full of himself moron comes to talk to the gentleman and says no you do not qualify. The gentleman tells him he has always gotten a discount there. So the moron says well we have told our people to tighten the rules and we only give what corporate requires we give and you do not qualify. The gentleman says he will then take his business elsewhere. The young moron replies that is your choice. The gentleman starts to leave and I step in. I tell the moron if one of your idiot friends walked through the door right now you would have the option of giving him a discount and with your attitude you would do it. So step over to the register and give this guy his discount. He says he does not qualify for it. So I tell him look here is how this is going to work. Either you give this guy a discount and I call Home Depot corp and tell them how good of a manager you are in spite of the stupid policy. Or I go home call Home Depot corp tell them I stupid the policy is and their manager is a moron, then I blast face book and it goes viral and you get to be the moron you are. I think you know which one he chose! So people please blast Facebook with this story. It was store E Spokane #4714 5617 E Sprague Ave Spokane Valley, WA 99212 What a shmuck, he also told the gentleman that he would have to talk to the CEO of Home Depot to change his mind. I hate people who do not respect our military. BLOW...
Read moreI am not particularly impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff, not at Home Depot in general because this is the only one I shop at. An example from one of my frequent trips there, today actually... I asked a passing associate where the 6 foot top grade cedar fence boards were, and she pointed in the direction of lumber and said “ Um, lumber I think“. However, I give them five stars because their selection and price is outstanding. I went across the street to Lowe’s and they did not have anything close to the selection of “Black Friday“ specials that Home Depot has. I have found that most of the time I can pretty much find or order anything I need. I needed new hubs for my utility trailer and I ordered them online and picked them up at the store. Bearings, seals, lugnuts and all for $50 for the pair. I couldn’t even get them that cheap on eBay. I did however have to buy better quality seals for $10 a pair because the ones that came with their hubs were terrible. Still a great deal. Sometimes you have to press the staff because they don’t know what they have, mostly because A) they don’t know where it is and B) they don’t know how to look it up because they use different numbers than the manufacturers number and it is confusing not only to me but to them. They seem to be pretty good at stocking things in quantity so if you need 10 or 20, they have it. It’s very frustrating when you want something and you go to the store two or three times and they always have zero even though they Stock it. Are you listening Walmart? When I finally ended my search for the cedar fence boards they were just putting in another pallet full....
