"Welcome to Costco, I love you!"
So I mean, it's costco... we all have a pretty good idea of what it's like.
Pros: Bulk. Prices. Kirkland brand is on point from clothing to housewares to food! Reliable staples as well as hard to find and specialty items. Excellent book selection, especially for kids. New self-checkout. EXCELLENT optical prices. Gas prices. Self service air station by the tire center. Aside from the people and layout, it's pretty awesome.
Cons: The parking. Overcrowding in both the parking lot and absolutely inside. The layout and lack of signage makes navigating the store challenging, especially for first timers. Rude, pretentious customers. *Rude workers in the food area because they're obviously overworked and underappreciated (poor management style). Same goes for the stockers. You can see the stress dripping off of them. There's a very small handful of checkers who are beyond rude but I guess that's everywhere and considering how rude a lot of the customers are, I suppose that's to be expected. Not enough checkers during peak times. The customer service counter is so poorly placed that it wreaks havoc on the flow of shoppers exiting as well as those trying to return items and/or other things.
*Adding to the food court issue here. My routine is to shop then grab a slice and a drink before heading out. They've always had over-stressed workers for as long as I can remember. They don't smile or even have time to look at you, like busy bees in a hive. At some point they've recently decided to stop putting foil on the pizza slices so you now have to ask each time and they're usually put off by it. Same tho. Their hands are cleaner than mine since I just finished shopping so I always ask them to put it on and they always just toss it at me instead. While I wait, I watch and almost every person who gets pizza has to come back and ask for foil. I get why they've made the change, it's just frustrating to be met with attitude and feeling bad for asking. They could offer it or maybe put it on the counter by the straws. I've worked in a fast paced restaurant before and I fully understand the stress but thing is, management plays such a vital role in how things get done and you're either holding the whip or you working along side them and encouraging them. Sorry but this is a reflection on the uppers, not the lowers. Treat your employees better and they'll treat your customers better.
At the end of the day, I still recommend shopping here and the pros definitely...
Read moreI normally don’t give bad reviews. But I just have to bring this to the surface. I am a Costco member. I am a mother of two small children and I shop ALOT at Costco and love it because it really helps stock up on all my needs. However, I’m a little disappointed that they don’t accept MasterCard credit cards. This would be helpful. But my complaint today is entirely separate from this issue. Last week I went into Costco with my kids and my mom. My mom lives with me and is on SSI. She receives food stamps and so do I. But on separate cards. Granted she is not a member. But I asked her to shop with me that day particularly to help with the fact I had two toddlers with me and planned to buy ALOT of items. So we had two carts. Per got to the register and my mom wanted to purchase some food on her card under my membership. The lady at the register, Terra, was so rude about it. It was really embarrassing for my mom and myself. Particularly my mom. I ended up having to pay for it on my food card which we can’t. Really get back, ya know. When I asked to speak to a manager she pointed me to a supervisor. I wanted a manager. After asking TWICE she finally pointed me to the right person. Curtis, the manager, was friendly. But couldn’t answer my questions. I asked to see the policy in writing stating that a family member in the home couldn’t use their own card. They wouldn’t even let her use her debit card. ONLY CASH. I’ve never had this issue before bringing her. I’m a hotel manager and I know that policies are everything when defending a business. Reviews reach everyone. I’m sure a lot of Costco members would agree that possibly some of these policies should be changed. We are all struggling right now. This just made it harder: I am now out $125 because they couldn’t make the smallest exception. And then proceeded to be very rude about it. Bad taste in my mouth for sure and I will reconsider my membership until they can proceed with adjusting their policies or at least get them in writing....

Saturday 5/25/24 I had tires put on my 4Runner, tires purchased from Costco! My appt was at 11:30 and it took over 1.5 hrs to have them mounted and balanced. Unfortunately they weren’t balanced at all. I of course didnt realize it was unbalanced tires that was causing my steering wheel to shimmy/shake. I made an appt with Toyota 5/30/24 to have it looked over as I’m preparing for a trip to Lake Tahoe in a few weeks. I asked them to align it as the steering wheel was shaking when on the freeway. The alignment was fine, it was unbalanced tires. $70 later and a courtesy ride home and back to pick it up, this taking up 1/2 of my day off already. I decide to call Costco tire center (try to recoup the $70) I spoke with SCOTT the tire center manager. Scott did noting but down play the issue and tell me over and over again that I should not have had Toyota balance the tires and I should brought it back to them to have them balanced🤬. I said you should have done it correctly in the 1.5 hrs that you had my vehicle. He also went in to tell me Toyota trucks and SUVs are the hardest to balance. He expected me to tell Toyota not to fix the problem but pick-up my 4Runner from Toyota and bring it back to them and waste the rest of my day and risk no being able to pick my kid up from school….he has the worst customer services skills I have experienced in a long time. He did say he might be willing to spilt the cost with me🤯 I could not believe he was actually the manager. The first guy who answered the phone was much more pleasant and kind than Scott. I told him I would cut my losses because my time is worth more than $35. I Also informed him I would not be purchasing tires from Costco in the future. I have purchased over thousands of dollars worth of tires from them over the past 10 years. He is defiantly a bag apple...
