6.30.25: I've been wanting to try this sandwich shop but they're closed on Sundays. So, I finally was able to get to town on a day they were open. It was around lunch time when we walked in so the ambience was pretty busy and almost all the tables were taken, but we found a spot in the corner. We stood in line to order and we're greeted with a smile when it was our turn.
I ordered John's Veggie Bug and my friend ordered the special of the day, which was the Cuban. I made mine a combo and added the homemade roasted garlic salad and a drink.
When our order arrived, my sandwich sure did look tasty and it was! As taken from the menu, John's Veggie Bug consisted of: avocado, cream cheese, pepper jack cheese, olives, cucumbers, sprouts, green onion, lettuce, tomato, pesto mayo and balsamic vinaigrette, on a grilled parmesan panini. This sandwich was super fresh, had great flavors, and I loved that it was on yummy grilled bread that was warm. All the ingredients were plentiful too. I liked how it came with pretzels, something different than chips and the pickle had a good snap to it. You could tell the roasted garlic potato salad was homemade and it wasn't overpowered with garlic. The flavors had a nice balance. My friend's Cuban looked meaty and says he liked it. It was so filling he only ate half and took home the rest for later. The Cuban is worth it's value.
The dining area inside almost reminds me of an old school diner feel with lots of decor, art, and vintage type signs. I really enjoyed my sandwich and I'll...
Read moreFrom what I'm told this place is somewhat legendary for sandwiches. The hours they are open are fairly limited as they just do a few hours around lunch each day and are closed by 3:30. If you live a distance from them and work regular full time hours you'll never get a chance to try their fare. We ended up driving all the way from post falls, ID on a weekday that we both had off to finally try them. I can tell you that the offerings are plentiful (check out their well presented menu online that is organized by protein you'd like on your sammy) and the portions are generous. Each sandwich we got came with a pickle spear and a handful of (stale) pretzels so don't go for the sides. It doesn't matter though because the sandwiches are that good. Fresh deli meat piled high on soft bread offerings or in my wife's case, she went with the egg salad wrap which was very fresh and light and delicious all while being enough for two meals.
My only complaint, besides it being fairly inaccessible to me by virtue of conflicting schedules, was the prices. I don't mind paying for quality but two sandwiches for $35 is a bit steep in my estimation.
Still .. I'd go back. There are just too many amazing sounding offerings that I'm going to have to try. Darn work schedule getting in the way of my sandwich...
