If I could give Churchill's more than 5 stars, I undoubtedly would! This was my first experience & I already know so many more moments will be made at Churchill's! Forgive me for not taking any pictures, but I can tell you now they wouldn't do it justice! The service was outstanding! Our waiter, John was so amazing. He was like a friend at our table who would come & go as he was mingling with his other guests. By a friend, I mean someone who felt like I've know for ever or had been a regular guest and was comfortable making conversation without feeling forced (as some places you don't even get 'how is your dinner?') He also was extremely knowledgeable! Due to it being my first time, they have a really cool story with the history of the beef they use & the cut types. I learned more about the cuts of meats here versus asking questions at a butcher shop . . . A butcher shop people! This is a restaurant with class and taste! Speaking of taste!!!! Oh my stars everyone, hold on because your taste buds are in for a treat! To start off the three of us had water, Long Island ice teas, and I had a huckleberry lemon drop! I originally ordered a raspberry lemon drop but John let me know huckleberry is their specialty & it was tasty!! For an appetizers we shared crab cakes. They were crabby & moist! I've had some to where it was too dry & you feel like you might choke, well this isn't the case here! For our dinner my husband & our friend ordered the Porterhouse steaks & I ordered the King Salmon. All three of us also ordered Ceasar salad. The dishes came with snowpeas but the steaks had a garlic mashed potatoes whereas the salmon had rice. We shared some crab legs, asparagus, and creamed corn with bacon (our friend is originally from the south & John brought him that versus the northern style of mac & cheese - another reason it felt John was our friend because he cared & listened!) The dinner came with rolls & like a pretzel breadstick thing. John informed us that the OWNER (yes I did say that the owner!!!!!) Is the pastry chef! I thought that was really cool that she is in there every single day with everyone else! That to me has always stood out as a manager/supervisor/owner is 'down in the dirt doing work' just like the rest of the crew. The food was all too amazing! The steaks were cooked perfectly as well as my salmon! I've had dry as the desert as well as so moist I think it was still swimming & this was the most delicious! Also my parents are from AK so I'm very picky about my fish & sorry mom but Churchill's has it going on! I can't wait to go back & see/hear the live music!! Due to Covid-19 safety that was not offered so the paino was a recording, but in the future that will be a joy! Sorry for such a huge review I hope it helped, although just going there to experience for yourself, you too will want to leave a large review as the positive words just keep flowing like the...
Read moreWorse experience ever. I took my fiancé here tonight for her birthday. This was our first and last time here. When we got there the host said that they had us in the bar but he was afraid the booth he had was too small for me and said because I was a big guy. Strike 1. The booth had more than ample room. I have never been anywhere where they indicated that I was too fat for their establishment. Strike 2) waitress Rabecca I think was her name was so distracted and slow is an understatement. Most establishments we have been too usually try to strike up a conversation. They usually say something like oh what brings you in this evening. We were excited to celebrate her birthday, have a date night, and dress up. Strike 3). I order a Pendleton and coke. There may have been a drop of Pendleton but tasted like Coke. Even had my fiancé try it and she was like what the heck. The second one was much better but waited 20 minutes. They were literally dead when we were there. We didn’t understand the delay. Strike 4) I ordered the porterhouse steak and the steak was mediocre at best. They char the top of the steak like charcoal. Yuck. If you can get past that the middle is okay nothing fancy and definitely not a $60 mark up from like Texas Roadhouse.
I didn’t complain at the restaurant because I didn’t want to take away from my fiancé’s special day.
The only positive of this place was that my fiancé and I were able to have a place where we could talk and hear each other. It was a more intimate setting.
Definitely won’t be back. I highly recommend to save your hard earned money and frequent an establishment that actually appreciates your patronage and has value behind their product.
Update: I’m blown away. Bill the owner personally called me after seeing my review. He was sincerely apologetic for the experience we endured last night. He even asked me to wish my fiancé a happy birthday on his behalf. Without even asking he offered to refund our entire meal from yesterday. For me it wasn’t the money it was the value and lack of service. Bill did explain why they have the crusted tops. Has to do with them using an infrared boiler. He said ordering my steak medium rare shouldn’t have been crusted like I explained. He also apologized for the host comment but explained it was a misunderstanding. The table top was smaller at our booth than most booths. Just an owner taking the time to find out what happened and to make it right says a lot. I did tell Bill I wouldn’t mind trying them again but wouldn’t order the steak. Thanks Bill for caring about your clientele wish more owners...
Read moreI've happily referred people to Churchill's for a decade or more, as not only the best steakhouse in town, but the region. It has been my favorite restaurant in Spokane. Last night was terrible. We went there to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation at her request, I brought her, her younger brother, and my 85 year old Mother, anticipating a great meal, and a great experience. Unfortunately we were greatly disappointed. We had reservations, and were seated close to the podium attended by the maitre d'. Immediately it was apparent that the table directly behind us, and also close to the podium, was excessively loud, completely regardless of the other patrons. I approached the podium and requested to be moved, as they were really raucous. The best they could do was move us to a booth that was still very close to them. We hoped for an improved experience. Our hopes were not realized. I anticipated our dinner conversation would concern my daughter's accomplishment, but it was forcibly steered to the table of 8 men, and one woman having a business dinner, loudly dropping F bombs left and right, and just being loud, borderline yelling at each other. I am well aware that an establishment is not responsible for the behavior of their patrons, but this was 15 feet from the maitre d's podium, and they were not approached once to address their behavior that was more fitting of a post midnight Taco Bell experience, not a fine dining restaurant. To prolong this, our meal took excessively long to come out. I actively considered approaching them myself, but really didn't want my daughter's memory of this evening to involve her Dad getting in a fight, which seemed likely. Such a no win situation. Late in the meal, the maitre d' approached us, as he normally does, to ask how we were enjoying our dinner. I told him the meal was great, but I was very unhappy. He didn't ask why, as it was obvious. He merely replied, "well, try to enjoy your dinner." Really? I will say that the food was excellent, as always, but the overall experience ruined the evening. I was placed in a bad situation of wanting to leave, but stayed to try to salvage a nice dinner for my daughter. If I'd been there for just a dinner, I would have absolutely left. I probably should have, anyway. Very...
