The toxic and power hungry front of house staff is driving away customers and losing the ownership potential revenue.
I tried to use the restroom before sitting down to eat, meaning I walked passed the hostest stand and when I was asked if I wanted a table, I kindly said that I wasn't sure exactly where I wanted to sit because I had to use the restroom first. Rather than using the most basic level of customer service by allowing me to use the restroom before I sat down to eat, I was (for whatever reason) targeted as a freeloader or someone of that nature who was simply trying to use the bathroom with no intention of being a paying customer. Now, I could understand If I came into the restaurant dressed in rags with no shoes (not trying to shame the homeless here), but I wasn't. I was dressed well, own a business, smell good (I think), and had a smile on my face (laughing as im writing this because ive never had to stand up for my appearance attire, or professional background in a review of a restaurant, lol). In fact, a few years back I lived close by to this location and use to eat here religiously, so all in all I'd probably dined here over a dozen times on the conservative side.
But when the hostess said that the restroom is only for paying customers and demanded I ”just use the restroom next door", it triggered me for the many aforementioned and frankly comical reasons. In less than the 30 seconds that it would have taken me to use the restroom and wash my hands prior to sitting down to eat, the hostess deemed me as a non customer.
From an objective standpoint, it occurred to me that this individual wanted to be a "gate keeper" and impose power with complete disregard of the implications to her employer. Additionally, when I spoke to one of the neighboring shop owners in the center, they said they had the EXACT same experience with their family, after they had already eaten at the restaurant 3 times that same week!
If I had seen any of my employees treat a customer like this, I would have terminated them immediately, no questions asked. This employee is not only losing business revenue from an immediate lost sale, but also driving down future revenue from creating non returning customers.
Short version: been here a dozen times, had to pee before eating dinner, got denied to use the restroom before sitting down due to the hostess having an unprofessional and entitled attitude that ultimately lost the...
Read moreI never will forget the time that I ate here back in 2018. I never wrote a review on it, but I am writing it now. I went there for the AYCE sushi special as I can put away a lot of food. I have destroyed 5 pound steak and burger challenges before. Anyway, I was making several orders back to back and had it set up where the sushi kept coming out so I wouldn’t have to wait too long with no food. I’m not a big fan of dairy, but I kept accidentally ordering sushi with cream cheese. So I would scrape off the excess cream cheese on the plate and then eat the sushi. Well, I think the restaurant was getting annoyed at how much sushi I could eat and happened to take notice that I was scraping off the excess cream cheese. So as my orders continued to come out, they loaded my sushi with even MORE cream cheese…I kid you not. It was as if they knew I didn’t like too much cream cheese and decided to overload my sushi with cream cheese. Eventually I had enough as I was getting annoyed at accidentally ordering sushi rolls with cream cheese and then the restaurant purposely smothering the sushi rolls with cream cheese. So I finally paid the bill and left. I was probably there for the full amount of time which is normally 90 minutes or 2 hours but I can’t remember exactly. . As soon as I left, it wasn’t but a couple minutes that I was sick to my stomach and had to immediately pull over to the nearest gas station. I tried to relieve myself through normal bathroom activities and while it helped, I still felt queasy. I left the gas station still not feeling good and a couple more miles down the road and I ended up pulling into the IKEA parking lot in the middle of the night. There is only one IKEA in Vegas and it is 3.5 miles away from Sushi Koma. It was at this IKEA parking lot where I proceeded to puke all of the sushi I had just ate as I realized I had just suffered the worst food poisoning of my life. After i relieved myself from vomiting is when I finally felt normal again. . Whether the food poisoning was from improperly prepared sushi or them doing something with the cream cheese, I will never know. All I know is that I have not been back and will never be back to Sushi Koma. I rarely eat sushi these days, but my go to spot is normally Yama Sushi. I have never had an...
Read moreBy far the WORSE place to go for AYCE in Las Vegas. The food was horrible, the service was the worst I’ve received in my 3 years of living in this city, and the atmosphere was dim and dull. I had the displeasure of having a server, Taki, who not only made my experience horrible, she made me want to get onto Google and shout from the rooftops not to EVER come eat here. We came in for AYCE at 8:15pm, 3 adults and a baby. We pick AYCE and begin our orders. We literally received cold miso soup, burned Japanese lasagna, and that’s just the food we actually received. She got 1/4 of the orders, and seemed like it was day one. Anyway, we pushed through it and finally around 9pm i say to her, you know i only ordered a couple rolls and you have yet to bring them. She responded with oh let me go put it in now and starts to walk away. I said excuse me, i don’t want it at this point, I’d actually like to … and as I’m talking she decided, she’s had enough and walks away. Her coworker saw what happened and comes up and says is everything ok? At this point, I’m shocked so I’m not going to speak to anyone but the manager. He comes out, and i explained what happened and how she walked away. He goes to the back and comes back with the bill, and says i comped you an AYCE. Idk if it’s just me, especially because i never ask for a break on the bill, but when you just saw a table not get all but 3 rolls and soup, yet they ordered over 10 different rolls, that’s when you need to step in and handle it better. But back to what I’ve been saying … service in Las Vegas might as well not be called service anymore. Anyway, don’t eat here if you want a good meal and...
