Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in Spring

Visit 1: We had a party of 8 on the first visit. It took approximately 30 minutes to seat us, which was understandable. Once seated, we waited for approximately 30 minutes before a waiter came to our table to take our drink order. He took our drink order and went ahead a placed our food order as we had already been waiting some time. We waited approximately 45 minutes, with no sign of our waiter, no drinks, and no food. Finally, several people started bringing our food order, still no sign of our waiter. We explained to one of the people that we still had not received our drinks, sodas mind you not alcohol, she apologized and said she would tell our waiter. Well 7 out of the 8 people at our table had something incorrect about their order and most of our food was cold. Around 15 minutes later our waiter finally shows up, and he asks how we are doing, and we tell him not well and we still haven't even received drinks. He doesn't even apologize, he says let me go check on that. About 10 minutes later he returns and says drinks will be here soon. Few minutes later another lady other than our waiter brings us drinks, after we are all pretty much finished eating. We didn't even worry about the incorrect orders at this point because of how long we've waited. We immediately ask for our bill so we could leave, I think that was the only fast moment about the service there was. Upon leaving we ask to speak with the manager, waited almost 15 minutes, the hostess returns and tells us the manager is busy. And I asked so do I need to wait? She said no, he's going to be busy for some time. I demanded then a phone number of the person above the manager, she leaves and goes to the back. About 10 minutes later she returns with a piece of paper with a number and says this is the area manager's phone number. I called that number immediately as we walked out, and it was a invalid number. I walk back in tell the girl this isn't a valid number, and she says oh, let me go double check it. Disappears after about 10 minutes of waiting for her I just leave.

Visit 2: We had a party of 6 on the return visit. Was hoping that last time was a fluke. The next visit was almost identical to the first. Except this time after we waited almost 30 minutes for them to come get our drink order, we actually got our drinks. Then we waited almost 20 minutes with no sign of our waiter to come get our food order, so we just left money on the table for the drinks and got up and left. Then as we were walking through the parking lot, the waiter comes running out with the manager accusing us of stealing and not paying for our drinks. I let the manager and the waiter have my opinion very strongly of their business and service, and informed them to go back and look at the table and their money is there. I let them know very much for my distaste in their attitude and customer service. The manager pretty much just gave me a sorry...don't care attitude.

Corporate email: After this second visit, I wrote a formal email to Cheddar's corporate office explaining them in detail both visits. To this day I have never received a response from anyone at Cheddar's about the horrible conditions at that restaurant. I would hate to perceive that the whole attitude of the company is like that of the manager and staff's at the restaurant.

Conclusion: I will never return there. Until I see a sign that says "Under New Management", and possibly not even then would I return there. In my opinion this is one place where the price is not always right. While trying to shoot for a semi-fancy walk in restaurant with great prices, they forgot two things: the management and customer service that has to come with it. I guess if they think if they give you the food and drinks cheap enough you'll just deal with the crappy...

I normally don't have any complaints, but today the service was HORRIBLE!!! I came in to order at the bar, like I was told to by the manager, but was ignored, dismissed and not serviced. When I got to the bar and the lady/man...whatever they were, seemed like they had an attitude and when I stated I was ordering to go, they dismissed me to the carry out section. When I got to the carry out section, 3 people had walked over there and seen me and still didn't take my order. One of the guys, sat in the chair in front of me and texted on his phone for about 3 minutes. Then when he overheard me getting upset about not being about to order, he left and never came back. The second lady just walked over in the area, did something with her purse, and ignored me and left. The 3rd person that came over, I grabbed his attention and asked could someone take my order. He told me he couldn't because the register was closed and that I needed to order from the bar. I told him I already went to the bar and they sent me to carry out, which was the area I was in. He said he couldn't ring me up because the register was closed and left. I went back to the bar, and stood there and waited for the lady/man to take my order and they never did. He/she walked past me twice. When she/he stopped in front of me, I said excuse me and they just walked off. I got irritated at that point and when he/she walked by me again 2 more times, I grabbed their attention and asked was the manager there. He/she said yes and started to walk off and that's when I said, well can you get them. He/she yelled at the 3rd guy I talked to in the carry out area to get the manager (I believe his name is Kyle). As soon as the manager came out, he took my order. I was appreciative of the manager taking my order, however, the fact that he did that as soon as he came out made me believe he was aware that I was upset about not being able to place my order. We really enjoyed our meal here! If you're looking for a family friendly, relaxed, mid-range priced classic diner meal, but you don't want to go to Chili's or Applebee's, Cheddars Scratch Kitchen is a great option! The food here is really good, prices are fair and the staff here is fantastic! We came here on a whim because I've driven by it numerous times, but, never actually ate here yet. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted and and seated very quickly. The restaurant dining area was very busy, which I always take as a great sign that the food & service will not disappoint. CSK offers a wonderful selection of favorite American and Southern plate classics. The waiter arrived quickly and had a very pleasant attitude. He took our drink orders and quickly also brought out a complimentary plate of butter honey croissants. The croissants were buttery delicious and very indulgent. The menu offers a wide variety of foods and classic dishes that you find at this type of chain restaurant. We each had something different to try to get a sample of everything: *The Caesar salads were good but a little heavy on the dressing. *The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and not greasy (the steak was about the size of a man's large hand. *The ribs that were cooked well and dry. *The cheeseburger had a nice Smoky taste to it and also topped with fresh vegetables. *A steak with chicken tenders plate, which were both cooked correctly and not greasy. The dining area was kept clean, with tables ready for new guests. The restrooms are acceptable/not the greatest. And the overall staff does a wonderful job of doing their part to make sure that this restaurant runs well and efficiently I give cheddar scratch chicken 2 big thumbs up for the wonderful service, pricing and good classic meal selections.
