Edit I went back today 8/29/23, and they recommended a different dish. They gave me a side of naan bread with it and some basil rice. This new dish was a cashew base ( I believe it was called Korma) and again, I took it to go because I was short on time. it was honestly phenomenal! As far as heat, it was at the other end of the spectrum from what I had last night. My dad says it's a little spicy but for me it's not spicy at all. It is still VERY GOOD though. They were also very kind to me and apologetic for the problem I encountered. Very nice, professional people.

Edit 8/28/23 I feel bad for leaving a negative review prematurely. I was frustrated and I didn't think to give them an opportunity to fix the problem before leaving a review. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and they were very nice to tell me they will replace the meal tomorrow when I'm back in town.

Original review I went in and told the lady what I liked from other restaurants I'd been to and asked her to recommend something. She asked how spicy I like my food and I said medium. She recommended something that she thought I'd like (Kalimirch) and I took it to go. I've always liked everything I've eaten at Indian restaurants so I didn't feel like it was a bad idea to get it to go. I got it home, and it is so hot that I can't eat it. I like spicy. I use a ton of wasabi on my sushi. I am a hot sauce snob.... But this is literally so hot I can't taste the flavor of the food, and my lips are on fire after 2 bites. There is also hardly any chicken in it, I'm thinking that was not purposeful. The texture of the chicken is nice and I would probably enjoy the meal if it was not so insanely spicy. Makes me extra sad since I was really craving Indian food, I rarely have the chance to get it because of where I live, but I was in the woodlands to visit someone in the hospital and wanted to get some while I could. This single plate with an order of naan cost me $20 so I was expecting it to be great and was disappointed when it was too...

I ate at Namaste a few days ago with the family. I've had great Indian food overseas in Japan as well as numerous places here in the US. When we walked in, the place appeared clean, and the employees were polite and attentive. Our server took our food and drink orders for four people without writing anything down, which was noteworthy. Good memory. We had buttered chicken... not very good, and they forgot to bring out rice with it. My fussy child ordered chicken nuggets with fries, and a chicken cutlet cut up over fries showed up. Eh, okayyyy... The samosas were not bad, and they came with two sauces for dipping. The red sauce that was traditionally served wasn't very good, but overall, they were okay. Garlic naan bread was okay, but not as good as other places I've been. The portion was somewhat small and was not very flavorful. The Mango lassi was good, according to my daughter. We also had chicken biryani. The rice was alright if you got some buttered chicken sauce on your spoon with it. Otherwise, not much to write home about. The chicken itself was not very good. We also ordered from the Chinese food section of their menu. Namaste chicken with noodles was okay, but as it cooled off, it was quickly forgettable.

I really wanted to like this place. Very nice people working there... but the food was lackluster. It was just not that good. No leftovers came home with us. If I hear they revamp their recipes or are under new management in the kitchen, I would definitely try them again. Otherwise, I would check out some other places before...

What was supposed to be a pleasant dining experience turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing evening. The lack of service not only affected our enjoyment of the meal but also left us feeling as undervalued individuals. When ordering appetizers, the male waiter suggested trying a new dish, had a runner drop the plate off, didn’t explain what it was and never came back. He proceeded to help other tables. The female waitress attempted to take all of our menus before we even ordered our main dish. She had a very sarcastic attitude and was not friendly with our table of color, however served the surrounding tables with a smile a warm heart. I ordered 2 mango lasis, was then told I could only have one to share as there was no more. 5 minutes later, they told the table behind us that they made more for them as I drank out of my styrofoam cup and they enjoyed theirs in a glass. I was charged as if I was given both orders. When paying, my friend told me to ask for a receipt as she forgot to ask for hers. As I was paying I nicely asked for the receipt and she responded “yeah I heard you” in a cold and heartless tone. Come to find out, I was charged for a drink I didn’t receive. I am not sure if a party of 5 is considered a large party, but was automatically charged a gratuity of 18%. Did she deserve it? Absolutely not. I hope this feedback prompts Namaste to improve their service standards in the future. As it stands, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on...

The owner, Francis, was wonderful. He asked us what meats we liked and out spice levels and provided some solid recommendations in addition to a couple things we chose ourselves. I have to say, we loved every single thing we ordered last night. To start, lemon corriander soup and manchow soup. Francis recommended shrimp manchurian as well, this was flavourful and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I only wish we could have soaked up the extra manchurian sauce with some jasmine rice! For the main, we got Kalimirch goat (tender meat, creamy spicy sauce), dal fry (maybe the best we've had), one n only tandoori kukkad (the extra cook time is worth the wait, it's so juicy!), burnt garlic rice (we were almost speechless, this is a new fave), garlic Naan (perfect), tandoori roti with butter (also perfect). Ordered a mango lassi on the side - tastes freshly made and like real mango! For dessert, we got gulab jamun rabdi (sweet, less heavy than the normal gulab jamun with syrup, a nice surprise) and kheer (nice thick texture with nuts as well, not too sweet, well spiced). We all so impressed by the service, recommendations and the flavors. Because of Francis, we were able to branch out and try new dishes and we enjoyed them all. We will be back again and again!

We always have an amazing meal at Namaste Indian Cuisine on Sawdust. Just look at the pics of the food! If you haven't been, you're missing out on some really good food. We started with a Masala Dosa - Rice crepe stuffed with spiced peas and potatoes. (Served with sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato chutney) Next was from the Chaat (Indian Street Food) section of the menu. Dahi Puri - Puffy deep-fried puri shell served with boiled potatoes pieces, garbanzo beans, chopped red onions, cilantro, and topped with tamarind chutney, mint chutney, and yogurt. My son got a Yellow Lentil Soup - Traditional lentil soup cooked with spices and lemon juice with some Basmati rice. Entrées were the two family favorites: Butter Chicken Masala - Your choice of meat prepared in a mild buttery curry sauce with fenugreek. Palak Paneer - Cubes of paneer sautéed with fresh creamed spinach and herbs. Order of Plain Naan Flatbread baked in the tandoor oven and drizzled with butter. Plus an order of Poori - Deep-fried whole-wheat bread. We left full and happy, the food is excellent and authentic and is Nick's Local Eats - Best Northside Indian restaurant. Chef Heema cooks as good as my mom and grandma.
