We have had 2 bad experiences at Double days recently. We had a party of 5 for lunch only three of us had arrived. The hostess said we could not be seated until we were all there. We would have to wait in our car. So I started to take my 84 year old mom back out to the cold car to wait. Before we could get back out a man walked in got seated immediately for a party of 7, he being the only one there. He was greeted like he was Elvis and not one person said one word to him about where were the other members in his party. I questioned the hostess why were we treated differently? Why did I have to take my mom out when he didn't have to wait for his party. It was a very sad situation. It put a bad light on the fun afternoon we had planned. My husband and I went to Doubleday's for lunch yesterday. We were seated and we asked for a paper menu. Neither of us have the ap to look at menus and we don't like to do it that way either. The waitress proceeded to tell us they can't do that. I said excuse me. She said that we are wasting way way to much money on menus and they are no longer able to give them to the customers. I said what do you do if someone doesn't have a phone or they are elderly and don't understand the ap. She said oh well that's all we can do. No care or concern for the customers. We got up and left. It was the second bad experience in 2 weeks. We weren't willing to spend our money there.

I called in and spoke to Mike the manager. Explained our two bad experiences recently. He seemed like he could care less. No solution no explanation. He said he would have the owner call me. Haven't heard from anyone.

I suggested they get menus made with plastic coating so if someone needs one they have an aption. He said he would talk to the owners. As much as we used to love Doubleday's we won't be visiting again. Dont go unless you want a...

Unacceptable. I was sat at 6:06PM at Table 44, Amanda's section. I only know this because while i was waiting to see a manager, I had enough time to look at their floor chart. I got passed over by 3 different servers multiple times without so much as a cursory glance. One was a blonde with tattoos on her right arm i believe. Not to mention the 2 hosts who seemed to be oblivious to the fact they are at work. I saw 3 tables get up and leave and each table had a different server come and prebus and collect their tip. So I tell myself, at 6:15, if 6:30 comes around and no one has greeted me, I will leave. Well 6:30 came around so i packed up my 1year old and as we are leaving, one of the hosts wishes me a good night. The same one that sat me. So right then i decided to speak to a manager. After informing him of my above experience and stating how embarrassing it is, he offered up nothing but a piddly apology. He was clearly coached to say this buy UM. I was surprised i didnt see a cue card behind me. Instead of offering to make it up to me, he says. "I do apologize, the server will get a talking to, please let me know if there is anything ELSE (i emphasize else because at this point he has done nothing for me) i can do for you, maybe buy you a beer, etc." I was like no man, I dont want you to buy me a beer, I am literally holding my son in my arms. I have been in food service for many years, as employee and manager both, and this was just a pathetic experience. The food looked and sounded great too, it is a shame I didnt get to experience that. Although knowing the time management style of the server and manager, it probably would have taken...

Decided to come here instead of going to our usual roosters well that was a mistake! Service was by far the worst I probably have ever had was he polite yes but did we wait up to 10 minutes to even receive a drink? Yes with three kids under the age of five teenagers and four adult adults I didn’t expect super speedy service but I sure expected better than what we got.! Not only did we wait 45 minutes before our order even got placed we waited 15 to 20 minutes for any drink refill if we got one and then the two-year-olds dinner never came out till 10 minutes later and then pro another 15 minutes at the end to receive our check and get the heck out of there so I asked to see a manager who basically seems speechless and offered nothing other than I’m sorry about your experience. OK sorry about my experience. You mean $200 spent and two hours of my time that I could’ve spent somewhere else. The most important thing should be to you returning customers. There’s too many places to eat and your first priority should’ve been to do whatever you could to make it right that I was happy leaving the restaurant instead you bring me the check and don’t even leave me a pen so I had to wait another five minutes before asking for a waiter to borrow a pen! I will never be returning and anyone who asks me I definitely will let them know go somewhere else and maybe the next time you get an unhappy customer do something to...

To be fair: We’ve been to Doubledays many times & this was probably our only negative experience. The person taking the order & bringing it out to our car was great. The food, once corrected was fine. My complaint is with someone in the kitchen & the manager in their mishandling of a food allergy . The ticket for our takeout order clearly indicated (in red) a tomato allergy. Upon receipt, I checked the sandwich & saw some tomato juice & 2 tomato seeds on the upturned bun indicating a tomato had been placed there & then removed. A new bun was then prepared free of tomato so that was fine. I called to speak with the manager. My expectation was only for him to say sorry that happened (which he did) & that he’d speak to the kitchen. Period. End of discussion. Instead he was highly defensive & (I feel) combative. He seemed to brush it off thinking it was fine since it was corrected (only because I checked before I left). He said that the tomato juice & seeds could have gotten on the bun in any number of ways (that’s even worse). Best case, the person didn’t notice or forgot & put the tomato on it, then saw “no tomato” but missed the red “allergy” & removed it. When I said my expectation was that he would simply speak to the kitchen staff, he made it clear he thought that was an unreasonable expectation. I hung up.

Recently moved to the area and went here as we're still settling into our new home. The restaurant is in a great location along 741. The environment feels like an older sports bar/family restaurant mesh, but it's not dated at all. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, a pizza, and children's meals. The loaded Saratoga chips were great. They're house-made potato chips covered in cheese, bacon, and paired with ranch dressing. The burgers were cooked to temp and very tasty. The chicken sandwich was phenomenal. The grilled chicken tenders were both flavorful and juicy. The mac and cheese was great!! We had heard great things about their pizza, but were honestly skeptical about it as we haven't had great experiences with restaurants that have a full menu and make pizzas. Thankfully, we listened to the masses, as the pizza was perfectly cooked and was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be adding this restaurant to our list of regular dining options. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

This had all the feeling of a family restaurant coupled with a sports bar, but it was oddly quiet. That’s good or bad depending on your company. It seemed kid friendly enough, but the kids food looked cheap. I’m on a never-ending hunt for the best reuben. Theirs was not soggy and the dressing was on the side which I liked. Bread-cheese-kraut-beef ratios were spot on. Fries were nothing special but were not the sweet potato fries that I ordered. Although the staff was friendly and inviting our waitress had no clue about the available beers and couldn’t produce a tap list. It wasn’t until after ordering a boring brew that I discovered DD’s in Untapped as a verified venue. They have a small but acceptable tap list. We will likely return for the food and hope for improved service. They have healthy options worth ordering. The quinoa/rice bowls are large portions, tasty and unique.
