Coming from Toronto my family and I went to Hoss for dinner. In short I will never ever come back. Maybe it was just one of those days but my experience at Hoss was horrible to say the least. The salad bar looked sad with almost empty bins of what was supposed to be soup, bread and salad. Moreover, there was only one chef in the kitchen and it took over an hour to get our meals out. What made me angry was that even after waiting what seemed like forever, the food wasn't that great. Again maybe it was one of those days. But I would not want to go through that again. If it helps you put it into perspective, we went as a family of 4 with a total bill of $80 (didn't like it at all) at Hoss. We went the following day to a restaurant called 'Oliver Garden' a little more high end but surprisingly it was the same bill total with even more food and I enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely go there next time I visit the US. I'll include a few pictures of dishes we had...they were dry and the proportions were very small. Funny enough, we went to McDonald's later because we were still hungry. Anyways I hope this review helps you decide where to eat your next meal. I rarely leave bad reviews but I definitely had to write one for this place.

Had a great steak at the restaurant and just based on the steak, it would receive 5 stars. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly to order. The potato was good as well. The reason for the 4 stars is the soup and salad bar, which offers lower end fare from the food supplier. I worked for a food supplier and can always tell when restaurants choose to serve the lower priced options. I understand the reasons for cost cutting, but it definitely brings the dining experience down a notch. That being said, it was still a very enjoyable dinner, and the steak made up for any shortcomings of the salad bar. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting a good steak at a fair price.

This place has always been wonderful and it's fantastic for nostalgic reasons as well. They haven't really changed anything in there for the last 30 years. During the pandemic, the salad bar is still there but they require you to wear a mask and provide you with gloves. The staff is always happy and helpful. No trip to the Grove City outlets would be complete without stopping here

Brooke McKraken, a manager at Hoss’s Steakhouse in Grove City Pa. harassed and berated my partner for having a service dog. On the evening of March 21st. She confronted us our table not once, not twice but SIX times to accuse my partner of faking his status as a service dog. The first time she claimed he wasn’t a working dog and couldn’t be in the building, said he was a bite risk and she couldn’t allow him to stay because of other patrons allergies. She left the first time when my partner stood her ground. But she soon came back and asked us to produce a doctors note and service dog registration paperwork and that if we couldn’t we had to leave. We told her she is only Allowed to ask two questions: If he’s a service dog, and what task he performs. He’s trained to alert her to oncoming panic attacks so she can take her medicine and avoid a total meltdown. By the end of the second confrontation, he was actively alerting as stress of the situation was becoming a physical manifestation of her PTSD. Brook left and returned AGAIN and said For him to stay he had to have a vest on with a service dog registration ID. When we cited the ADA and told her that she was in violation of it, she argued in front of a restaurant full of people. She tried to say that under federal law she can’t allow him to stay and said she’d call the cops. I should add that after the second time she came back she had taken her name tag off. She left and returned a fifth time and said Pa. state law requires him to be registered as service dog and to carry identification cards and wear a vest. That anyone could bring a dog in. I told her that unless he was running amok, peeing and pooping all over the place or barking at other customers, she can’t ask us to leave any more than she can ask a person to leave their wheelchair outside for fear of it messing the floors up or upsetting someone with a wheelchair phobia. She left again and Came back for a final confrontation. She now claimed she “was new here” and that she called her supervisor who apparently told her that the service dog could stay at the table. Which was great because we’d already ordered food and wanted to eat something decent before our two hour drive home. But she left and came back SIX times to berate and harass my partner about her service dog meant to alert her to oncoming panic attacks. The dog is resting his head on her arm and pawing at her leg as things escalate the manager claims everything from other patrons allergies to him being a bite risk. All through this the dog, a 20 lb. Shiba inu was was sitting next to her, against the wall in our booth, damn near asleep until he had to alert her to her oncoming panic attack. This all happened in front of a restaurant full of people, Brook repeatedly harassed and accosted my Partner throughout the course of our meal. It took six arguments for her to go back to her office and looked up the ADA rules on service dogs. She came back and apologized and discounted the food my partner ordered but was too upset to eat. We didn’t ask to get free food. We just wanted to be left alone to eat in peace. But the damage was already done. The managers behavior was entirely unacceptable and to be berated and threatened like that so many times by such an ignorant woman was a truly terrible experience. Once we finally got to the car my partner ended up hyperventilating before her medicine kicked in. The entire night put a nasty taste in my mouth and settled my opinion on this establishment. I can only hope that other people with service dogs don’t receive the same treatment because the disgusting actions Brook took on behalf of a restaurant we’d been to many times were...

It has been a tradition for us to go to Hoss's for Mother's Day for years because it is my favorite restaurant, but we had a bad experience this past visit. My husband ordered his steak med well and it came to the table gushing blood, so they took it back with an attitude. It came back the 2nd time still gushing blood, so he had to send it back again, again with more attitude from the waitress. The 3rd time they brought it to the table, my husband could barely cut through it because it was so well done and the waitress said, "well it better be done now." My husband also ordered no gravy on his potatoes and he got gravy. We had to pay $25 for an overcooked steak and gravy he didn't want. The waitress was terrible at her job. Maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know, but she gave us such an attitude and at one point threw the check at me and I wasn't even the one paying. She got ticked off at someone who served us ice cream cups( who was only trying to help) because she also brought out ice cream cups for us. One of the biggest disappointments was the ice cream machine was broken and wasn't even there. So they brought out these tiny portion of ice cream cups to each person with no room for toppings. To be honest, the ice cream bar is one of the biggest reasons why I love Hoss's, and I will not go back if they don't bring that back. They could have at least offered to take that steak off of our bill, but the waitress made us feel like it was our fault that we kept sending the steak back. We may give them another shot, because the salad bar was still great and at least my steak was great, but at least we wanted to warn others of our...

I’ve had better steak in my lifetime than this garbage served up! The entire meal was nasty! You tell them medium rare and you get well done. No flavor! The salad bar had old food laid out to get. The bread wasn’t fresh. The sweet potato wasn’t good because it was burned up. The manager doesn’t even come by at first and then the waitress comes back with a coupon as an apology. I go I won’t be back and I want a discount. Acting as if they will see what can be done! I blame the waitress for lack of caring and attitude! It’s like she never got the manager. He comes out to ask what he can do better and make things better but only gives us $5 off which was nothing! I could have went to Texas Roadhouse on my way home instead for the value of this garbage! Never ever will I dine again here and I even told them that! The waitress acted as if nothing was wrong with the food! Maybe because half these people are not use to eating good and will eat anything even if it tastes bad! It’s no wonder these places keep going out of business food chains! I’m probably going to call Corp for this outrage! It’s like they didn’t care what my food was like nor did they try to make it right! Waitress was the worse of them all! We went out to a buffet today and the food tasted so good and it was less! This place, drive on to a bigger city with more options because this food is plain out garbage! If you like grainy over cooked steak than this is your place! If you just got out of the hospital you will think it’s good! Don’t waste your money or time...
