I had the misfortune of dining at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen on Primrose St last night when we invited two out-of-town guests, and despite the decent food, the overall experience was marred by a server who was nothing short of atrocious. It's baffling how a place can have good food and yet be utterly ruined by such abysmal service. Our server's attitude and behavior throughout the meal left us questioning their intentions. It was evident that he was disinterested in providing us with even a baseline level of service. He rarely checked in on us and displayed a marked lack of enthusiasm. While I'm hesitant to jump to conclusions, there were instances during the meal that made me question whether this subpar service was solely a result of negligence - our server seemed more attentive to other tables, raising doubts about whether their behavior was driven by biases.
To give a few examples, we asked for small plates for our appetizers not once, but twice, and it was as if our request fell on deaf ears. The lack of small plates made sharing our Trio appetizers a cumbersome ordeal. You'd think that a basic request like this wouldn't be so hard to fulfill. To make matters worse, we ordered one lemonade, one soft drink and two waters, but when we came home, my wife noticed that we were inexplicably charged for an additional sweet tea that we never ordered. Also, it's a mystery as to why refills were not offered throughout the meal. Our drinks remained empty, and I had to flag down the inattentive server just to get a refill. This is a basic expectation for any dining experience, and it's astonishing how this establishment failed to meet even this rudimentary standard. The pinnacle of incompetence was reached when we had to resort to calling our server to our table using the little machines on the table (as he had completely vanished) just to have it cleared so we could eat without clutter! It's truly mind-boggling how unresponsive and inattentive the service was. And let's not forget the ordeal of requesting a to-go box. We had to ask for one, and when we finally did, it was not provided promptly, leaving us waiting and wondering if we would ever be able to take our leftover food home. We requested a small plastic container for the dips which never arrived again!
Overall, the food at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen was indeed good, but the dining experience was marred by an awful server who failed to provide even the most basic level of service that any restaurant patron should expect. The food may have been good, but the server's behavior cast a dark shadow over the...

Read moreDid a to-go order and didn't recieve our $8 onion rings. Also shy three cresent rolls. I should've checked before leaving, I just trusted this place too much I guess.
Haven't been to Cheddars in years, but I always remembered they had the best prices, good food, but small portions. After ordering this evening, the prices are insanely high for the small portions you receive. Mashed potatoes are an ice cream scoop size, rice bed that is under the lemon chicken contains maybe a couple tablespoons amount, and the soft drink for $3 is in between a small/medium.
The positives were the chicken fried chicken and lemon chicken were juicy and seasoned well, however, my chicken fried chicken had a slight pink color to it, making me a little nervous.
Won't go back anytime soon, now I see why I waited years to try it again. Either the prices should go down or the portions should be increased. Missing items are bad service too, but again, I should've checked before driving away.
*Review Update: We were given a gift card to use and to try them out again, and this time was so much better! We did another curbside pickup. The portions were so much larger, and they got us our onion rings this time, which by the way, are very tasty, as well as all of our cresent rolls.
Maybe the portion size when it comes to rice and mashed potatoes is small, but this time we went with fries and salads, and they were large! Portion sizes on the fish and shrimp were large as well. Still wish the drinks were a tad larger, but everything this time around was fantastic!
Keeping review at 4/5 stars since the first time had some drawbacks, otherwise it would be a 5/5 from...
