We went to Osteria with a party of 6 last night and reflecting back, I wish we would've gone elsewhere. I could leave a 4 page review but I'll try to keep it short: good appetizers (burrata and soups) unreasonably overpriced took 2 hours to be served the main dishes salmon was almost raw and was ruined after being cooked again cocktails weren't good shrimp were excellent but the pasta they were served on were extremely spicy but lacked flavor New york strip was cut up for some reason
We had chosen the restaurant since it was listed as one of the best in hampden county but I have no idea who paid Google to lie like that. I had really wished to find a great restaurant to frequent in but we will keep on looking!
EDIT: After reading the response from the owner, I've changed my 2 star review to a 1 star. Half of the things that were stated by the owner aren't factual.
He haven't ordered 2 rounds of appetizers. And actually notified the server that we are on a schedule. It didn't take 2 hours to dine. It took 2 hours to RECEIVE the main dish. it was 2 people that ordered the salmon, not one. i called the dishes ruined after cooking them again since the salmon was brought back to us, literally looking like somebody had shredded it up. Not very appetizing. the server didn't inform us that the new york strip was going to be sliced up. It's called a strip, and not New York slices! its not that I'm very hard to please. Evidence of that can be found in the (over 100) restaurant reviews i have left. Just click on my profile 😘 I think it is important to share positive feedback since everyone is quick to complain but never leave a good word anywhere. On the other hand, I also think its important to state the truth and my opinion to inform others what to expect. the server never told me that the shrimp were going to be ridiculously spicy and free of flavor otherwise. the party collectively said when we continued the night that the dinner would've been great if we stopped after the appetizers. Those were amazing. I happily pay big price tags if I don't get disappointed like we all did. We saw the prices and had hoped you would back it up. Which unfortunately you failed to do. Thats why we're not happy about. I don't complain about the quality of food at McDonalds if the price tag reflects it. The smart and feisty response by the owner solidified my statement about never...
Read moreI want to tell everyone that the Osteria Restaurant, in Springfield, MA is the friendliest that I and my wife, Marian, have ever been in! Not only was the food superb and the service exceptional, but the owner - Chris - and manager - Lyndsay - went way beyond anything I have ever encountered in a restaurant. My wife and I had dinner at the Osteria while we were in Springfield, attending the Sweet Adelines regional competition. Our dinner was a very enjoyable two hours, and we decided to make reservations for lunch the following day, because the food and service were so satisfactory, When we started out the door it was raining very heavily. WE had walked over from the hotel to Osteria, about five blocks. WE now had to walk back, but we would both get soaked. After standing in the entrance of the restaurant for about five minutes, hoping the rain would let up, Lyndsay, the manager, came out to offer us a small umbrella she had found, stating it was the only one she had. When she opened it up, we all realized it was too small to cover us both on the walk back. Lyndsay decided then, and offered to drive us back to the hotel. She led us out the back of the restaurant, got us into her car, and brought us back! We had made reservations for the next day, but the heavy rains caused damage inside the restaurant, and Lyndsay tried to call us to let us know they would be closed for lunch. We didn't recognize the phone number calling and didn't answer - so at lunchtime, we walked back to the Osteria, bearing a plant for them, as a Thank You. At the door,we were disheartened to see the Closed sign, and were about to leave, when Lyndsay came to the door and invited us inside. We could now, at least, give them the plant and say Thank you again. Lyndsay was grateful and invited us to sit, saying that Chris would find "something" to serve us for lunch! We were the only two people in the place, and they were wonderful to bring us lunch, under their circumstances. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, with a glass of wine. We invited Chris and Lyndsay to sit with us if they had time, They did and we took photos of the four of us together. Chris put the wine "on the house" as it was my birthday - and he even brought me a birthday candle in a piece of cheese with a birthday wish. Again, I say, the FRIENDLIEST experience my wife and I have ever had in...
Read moreThis is second time I visit in one month. Last time I went with about 15-16 co-workers and we waited about 2 hours for our meals. Some left before the food arrived. This time my son had been asking for me to take him there because he enjoyed it so much when his dad took him so I did. He ordered linguine and mussels again and he said it was horrible this time and I ordered rigatoni vodka with sausage. My dish was pretty good but not enough pasta. I left there still hungry. Definitely not a spot that serves enough for a doggy bag. The bread seemed stale, and came after the meal arrived. I ate it because I was still so hungry. I complained to the waitress and she said next time I could order extra pasta for a few extra bucks. Are you kidding me? Two dishes and one drink containing alcohol was about $85 dollars and didn’t include the $15 tip. So $100 and I’m still hungry. I understand restaurants can have a bad night but two screw up’s in the same month. I work too hard for my money. What a shame! I had been raving about this restaurant before this month (March 2025). Never again. I don’t have money to throw away. I feel robbed. The drink was the best thing but that is not what I went there for. What a shame!!! Back to Mulino’s in Northampton we go. I don’t mind driving if the food is great. It this...
