This was my first time trying out Lefty’s, a black owned Chinese restaurant! I was not disappointed! The customer service was exceptional, the inside of the restaurant was clean with a welcoming atmosphere. The menu had a great variety, including choices for vegetarians. I ordered the seafood St. Paul combo special that included seafood (lobster, shrimp, and crab) fried rice, 2 crab ragoon, and seafood St. Paul. The price was reasonable at about $21, and the meal was well portioned. Initially when I checked my food at the restaurant, the bread on my St. Paul was cold. One of the employees advised that the bread wasn’t refrigerated and that it was probably cold from the lettuce. At first I was a little apprehensive that they didn’t offer anything to accommodate my complaint. I had a 15 minute commute from the restaurant to my home and the food was still hot. My bread had gotten warm from the warmth of the St. Paul sandwich was still hot. That was a huge plus! The rice was a little salty for me, but as someone who doesn’t eat fast food often, anything that is cooked with high sodium is very potent to my tastebuds. Overall, the food wasn’t greasy and tastes better than the traditional Chinese restaurants in St. Louis. I was satisfied and I will be back to try the ramen. If you’re from out of town, I highly recommend that you try out Lefty’s. It’s a great representation of St. Louis’ famous Chinese rice!

Oh every-time I visit Lefty's it's a whole vibe! From the moment I pull up, although there's always customers - finding a parking spot is smooth and easy. You can either park on the street - the side of the street - or the back parking lot. I ordered their Vegan Shrimp with rice and veggies - plus with a side of their Hot Braised Sauce with is DELICIOUS! I couldn't wait to get home to take my first bite because the aroma coming from the bag - OMG I just wanted a bite for the road! Lol ok - back to the food, it was super fresh and steam came out the moment I opened my lid. Oh I loved it! So the first bite - exactly what I knew it would be - beyond flavorful and perfect! The rice is seasoned well and not overpowering- oh and the veggies - my fave bc it's like how in the world do you make veggies not only have a crunch but seasoned like immaculately! And the vegan shrimp - when you try it, it speaks for itself. It's crispy, but not dry - if that makes sense. I called in my order and the woman working the register greeted me the moment I walked in the door. For sure a welcoming experience! I just love Lefty's and love when I'm on that part of town because I ALWAYS stop there for a good meal!

Okay the food was alright, i got the ham fried rice & dragon wings + a soda. I ordered delivery via square (because the prices are insane on doordash & the menu isnt complete) & tipped 20% that was supposed to be going to the “courier” just for them to deliver the order with doordash and my driver told me she didn’t get the tip so I tipped her on top of what i thought i tipped her in cash. I’m confused on how i spent almost $10 on the delivery fee & tip just for the driver to not get any of it… Not just that but the wings have 0 flavor, just salty, and are very dry. the fried rice was good but y’all lowkey rationed with the meat. i felt like there was more on top as a garnish than in the actual rice. I asked for a zero sugar pepsi (strawberry and cream) and got a rootbeer?? i think any other drink substition would’ve been better than a root beer, but i should’ve been contacted. my bag smelt like black n milds which I actually think was because of the delivery driver, not the kitchen but still was off putting. there was also a sharpie in my bag??? which i’m lowkey not even mad about because i’ve been needing a new pack lol.

Edit: Thank you for the response, Lefty! I fully appreciate, understand, and agree that Lefty's cannot be responsible for another company's business practices. While I am unable to change my review to officially reflect my experience with Taco-Drip, I have changed my review officially posted under Lefty's, to reflect five stars, for sharing your space with another start-up (presumably), allowing a neighbor to benefit from your own experiences and profit from the foundations that you have already worked hard to establish. This is the kind of community networking and resourcing we can all benefit from. Thank you. In addition, I removed the ratings for Food and Atmosphere, as it really has nothing to do with Lefty's, directly, and I changed Service to 5*, as the person working the counter really did a great service to Lefty's as well as the public, in general, in sharing some of the facts about Lefty's. The importance of this cannot be overstated. Thank you for the Clarification, and for setting me straight!

(Original Review) Rating for Taco-Drip doing business from Lefty's establishment:

Overall: */5 Food: */5 Service: **/5 Atmosphere: No rating

Came here on a Sunday late morning to enjoy the Taco-Drip tacos on offer for the Riverfront Times' annual Taco Week. They did not have the steak tacos, yet, and said it would be about another hour to cook the meat, so I opted for the ground beef, only, as there was no option to mix and match taco fillings. The young woman working the counter was very friendly, vibrant, and informative, and shared that Lefty's is the first all Black owned and operated Chinese food venue. However, I still ended up waiting nearly an hour for my ground beef Taco-Drip tacos! They were delicious, but, come on! If you advertise that you open at 11 am, you should be ready to...

DO NOT EAT HERE. Customer service sucks. I waited 25 minutes for a call in order I placed 30 minutes prior to coming up there to pick it up (I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes). After all that waiting the order was not what I ordered. I tried to support this black owned business but I regret I wasted my time at this place. The food is overpriced. The same thing I ordered at different Chinese restaurants is always around $11…here it was $17…took too long and wasn’t even made correctly. I’d stick with the 10 minute Chinese spots and not waste time here. This was my first time here and definitely the last. I really feel like I got scammed by my own people. It’s ok though I’m sure this business will deserve everything coming their way…..I don’t know how to reply to your response so I’ll edit this review. First of all I know EXACTLY what I told the young lady over the phone when I ordered. OWN UP to YOUR mistakes it isn’t that hard. Trying to justify your trash customer service. Everyone that has something negative to say about this restaurant it seems to never be YOUR fault. This business is a joke. Wasted my money and time. I won’t be ordering here anymore so no need to get on your website. The only mistake I made was giving this...
