I stopped by The Key STL to check out what all the buzz was about — and man, let me tell ya, this place is dialed in! The whole spot is completely rehabbed — fresh, clean, and lookin’ sharp. It’s got that brand-new energy but with a local vibe that feels right at home.
They’re rockin’ counter service, but don’t let that fool you — these guys run the kitchen like pros. The crew behind the counter were friendly, fast, and on point. I went classic with a burger and fries, and they cooked it up fresh to order.
Now, I didn’t even make it to the photo before taking a bite — that’s how good it looked. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked. The house-cut fries? Golden, crispy, and seriously addictive. Then they hit me with a recommendation — try their homemade Key Sauce. Game changer. Creamy, tangy, a little bit sweet — the kind of sauce that makes you wanna dunk everything in it.
I grabbed a seat at the bar, and Alec the bartender took great care of me. Super chill guy — filled me in on the story behind the place and even gave me a peek at their music hall next door. That space? Absolutely awesome. Great setup, killer vibe, and you can tell it’s gonna be a hot spot for live shows.
Bottom line — The Key STL is the real deal. Fresh food, friendly faces, and a slick setup. St. Louis just leveled up with this one. I’ll be back soon to unlock a few more...

Perhaps it’s some growing pains of being new, but nobody even offered to discount or compensate for the delay despite my multiple complaints. Will not...
Read moreThe Key is a partitioned complex, with one side serving smash burgers, fries and what was honestly one of the best Toasted Raviolis I've had. The other side is a beautifully restored and updated community space for local performing arts acts. The acoustics were phenomenal.
From what I understand, they're also planning to have public viewing events of sports and such... much akin to what The Armory used to do...
