I've actually never eaten here, but this is one of the worst establishments in state college. Pita Cabana just loves to park it's car right in front of my apartment building. After needing to back in and out of my space about 5 times to get my car in, I walked over to Pita Cabana and immediately asked to speak with a manager. The employee says she's not there and I can tell him. I explain the situation and his response is "Well, it's not my car. You can ask the driver to move it." My response to that was "But it's a Pita Cabana vehicle and I don't know the driver I'm here asking you for help." He repeats that it's not his car in a way that implied I didn't get it the first time. So instead I just told him that if he was going to be that way I would just leave. I called the State College Parking Bureau to deal with it instead. When the employee came outside and started walking towards me, I told him that the Parking Bureau will deal with it instead. He rolled his eyes and told me for a third time "It's not my car." I told him to stop being rude to me and that it's being dealt with. He got very defensive that I called him rude and called back that he's not being rude. I reminded him that he was an employee standing inside with me and I was trying to address a concern that you were no help with and then treated me like I didn't understand what was happening. At this point I'm pissed and said "Obviously it's not your car! That is why when I walked in I IMMEDIATELY asked for a manager." At this point I was getting angry and decided to walk into my apartment building. So, to conclude, if you ever come to them with any valid concerns about their establishment, they'll tell you it doesn't personally belong to them so they...
Read moreThis 4-star review is a compromise: were I writing this review based on my first experience about six months ago, this would be a 5-star rating. Were this review based solely on today's visit, I would offer up only a 3-star rating.
First visit: I ordered the large Fattoush salad and mourned the bottom of the bowl. It was SO good and fresh. I also enjoyed their hummus & pita appetizer. Again, fresh & delicious with the perfect balance of spices and textures. Everything was packaged with care. The staff were engaged, helpful, patient, and pleasant--every one of them.
Today's visit: Feeling a little rushed to make up my mind, I ordered the Chicken Cabana platter with Tabouli and Fattoush as my sides. Sadness. First off, everything went into the same to-go box. Steaming rice/chicken + cold salads = disappointment 10 minutes later. Also, no sign of the pita bread that was to be included. That pita bread would have been perfect for sopping up the delicious dressing left from the Fattoush. (And it would have kept me from finishing the okay-but-kinda-oily Cabana rice.) The Cabana chicken was fine, but dry. But the biggest disappointment of all was the Tabouli. Despite the lack of bulgur wheat kernels, I tried it. Two bites of the bland, gritty mess was all I could take. Maybe the parsley wasn't washed well? Dunno.
The one constant was the hot tea. It's free, it's delicious, and it demands to...
Read moreOrdered delivery on their website. Had to call them an hour later to check if they even got the order. The phone number provided took many tries to get through and when it did, the owner answered like he didn't even know this was a business line OR you get someone telling you that this is the wrong restaurant.
As for the food, it's awful. They used tortilla, not pita as advertised. They skimmed on the spices and watered down their sauce. Their beef was frozen. Everything was flavorless. They also got one of my orders wrong. Honestly, this place seems to act like they don't even care. Either the good reviews were a bunch of fakes, or the people here really don't know what good Middle Eastern food taste like. Y'all dare to call these Middle Eastern food is a disgrace. It's more of an inferior cultural appropriation of Middle Eastern...
